INTER-STATE ILLEGAL GUN TRADING RACKET BUSTED : 20 IMPROVISED

SOPHISTICATED PISTOLS OF .32 BORE RECOVERED

A team of Special Cell led by Inspector Manoj Dixit and Inspector Shiv Kumar under the supervision of Sh. Satyavir Singh, ACP/SR, Special Cell, has busted an Inter-State gang indulging in illegal firearm trade. The gang used to procure improvised sophisticated semi automatic pistols from Dhar, MP and sell them further to criminal elements in Delhi and NCR. Ajay Bhardwaj s/o Rakesh Bhardwaj r/o H. No. 157, near Sarojni Naidu School, Bodh Ashram Road, Firozabad, UP aged 39 years has been apprehended. A haul including of 20 improvised semi-automatic sophisticated pistols recovered from the possession of accused Ajay.
OPERATION: An in-house study into the growing use of sophisticated firearms in commission of robberies/dacoities, extortions and other heinous crimes in Delhi and NCR over the past few years revealed that in most of the cases illicit weapons manufactured in Khargone, Sendhwa and Dhar Districts of Madhya Pradesh are being smuggled into Delhi NCR. Accordingly, a team of Special Cell led by Inspector Manoj Dixit and Inspector Shiv Kumar was constituted and entrusted the task to curb the menace of these persons in Delhi NCR, Mewat and Mathura region. Once entrusted with the task, this team collected data pertaining to these gangs operating in Delhi and NCR. The team travelled to almost whole of UP West, UP East, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh region. During this period, vast data was collected about the Modus Operandi and area of operation of each gang. The team prepared road plan of their movements in rural belts and synchronized the same with technical details. This team worked diligently and relentlessly by deploying informers in and around Delhi, UP West and Madhya Pradesh.

On 26.08.16, a specific information was received that one Ajay Bhardwaj would again come near Gurudwara, East Vinod Nagar, Delhi at about 5 PM to deliver a huge cache of Dhar (MP) manufactured semi automatic weapons to his contact. Accordingly, a trap was laid on NH-24, near bus stand, East Vinod Nagar, Delhi. After painstaking efforts, at about 5:15 PM, one suspicious person holding a bag on his shoulder was tracked near bus stand of East Vinod Nagar, Delhi, who was waiting for someone. After some time when no one turned up and he was about to leave, at about 5:30 PM, he was overpowered and apprehended who was identified as Ajay Bhardwaj s/o Rakesh Bhardwaj r/o H. No. 157, near Sarojni Naidu School, Bodh Ashram Road, Firozabad, UP aged 39 years. Total 20 sophisticated semi automatic pistols were recovered from the bag carried by Ajay Bhardwaj. A case vide FIR No. 52/16 dated 26.08.2016 u/s 25 Arms Act, PS Special Cell, New Delhi has been registered.  

His interrogation revealed that he has been working for his brother Prashant Bhardwaj, who is main receiver of these illegal arms from Dhar (MP). This consignment of illegal arms was to be supplied to the contact of Prashant, who is resident of Pandav Nagar, Delhi. Interrogation further revealed that the accused has previously supplied 5-6 consignments of illegal weapons in Delhi-NCR to the contacts of his brother Prashant.
