ACCUSED WANTED IN SENSATIONAL ROBBERY OF 80 LAKH IN THE AREA OF PS PUNJABI BAGH ARRESTED

  • ACCUSED PUNEET ANAND IS A COLLEGE DROP OUT, WANTED TO BE A SINGER AND CLAIMED TO HAVE TAKEN PART IN FAMOUS SINGING REALITY SHOW IN 2009.

       The team of Special Staff has arrested one co-accused Puneet Anand s/o Prem Anand r/o Karala, Delhi, age 28 years, wanted in sensational day light robbery of cash Rs.80 Lakh committed in the area of P.S Punjabi Bagh on 28.07.16. The accused has been evading arrest since then.  

INCIDENT:
         On 28.07.16, a PCR call regarding robbery of cash was received at P.S Punjabi Bagh. The complainant Mr. Aman Mittal stated that he works as a field boy in Mayur Sales Corporation having office at KD-69, Kohat Enclave, Delhi. The firm functions as a wholesale company for the sale of rice and he along with other employee namely Shubham r/o Shiv Nagar, Rampark, Rani Bagh, Delhi collects money from retail purchasers and then deposit the collected money in the account of firm at ICICI Bank, Asaf Ali Road with the help of ICICI Bank employee namely Ajit. On 28.07.16, he along with Shubham left Kohat Enclave office of the said firm carrying Cash Rs.80 Lakh in a bag for depositing the same in ICICI Bank. Shubham was driving Scooty and he was pillion rider carrying the bag containing cash. At about 10.30 a.m. while they reached Cement siding underpass near Punjabi Bagh flyover four boys riding on two motorcycles came and intercepted their way forcing them to stop. One of the motorcycle riders pointed pistol on him and the other boy took out key of his scooty. The said robbers robbed him of the bag containing cash Rs.80 Lakh after which they ran away from the spot.  In this regard, the case vide Fir NO. 467/16, dated 28.07.16, u/s 392/397/34 IPC was registered at P.S Punjabi Bagh.

INFORMATION, TEAM AND OPERATION
The sensational day light robbery caused high alert in North-West district also as the robbers had followed the victim from the area of Rani Bagh which is in North-West district. Hence, a team comprising of SI Ram Manohar along with HC Suresh No.148/NW, HC Ashok No. 398/NW, Ct. Sanjay No. 1204/NW, Ct. Umesh No.1307/NW and Ct. Sushil No. 1314/NW was constituted under the supervision of Inspr. Shyam Sunder in charge Special Staff to identify all the robbers and those involved in planning the robbery.  After the incident, 3 accused namely Ajit, Ashu and Mukesh were already arrested by the staff of P.S Punjabi Bagh in which Ajit was the employee of ICICI Bank, Aruna Asaf Ali Road. Investigation revealed that Susheel, Monty and Puneet were also involved in robbery of Rs.80 Lakh on 28.07.16. Part of robbed money was also recovered. After committing robbery, Susheel, Monty and Puneet absconded from the spot with their share of robbed money and had been evading arrest.

On 23.08.16 at about 6 p.m. secret information was received by HC Suresh No. 148/NW in the office of Special Staff that the person namely Puneet Anand r/o Karala, Delhi wanted in case FIR No.467/14, u/s 392/397/34 IPC, P.S Punjabi Bagh is standing near JD Block, Bus stand, Pitampura near Pitampura Metro station and can be apprehended if a raid is conducted immediately. The information was communicated to Inspr. Shyam Sunder, In-charge Special Staff, North-West District and as per the direction of senior officers the police team reached near JD Block bus stand, Pitampura where one young person carrying a black bag was found standing behind the bus stand trying to hide himself amongst the crowd and behind the bus stand. He was identified by the secret informer as the wanted person/accused Puneet Anand. He was found carrying a bag containing cloth. Initially, he tried to evade the questions but finally broke down and identified himself as Puneet Anand s/o Sh. Prem Anand r/o D-58, Anandpur Dham, Karala, Delhi age 28 years. He was arrested by SI Ram Manohar u/s 41.1(ba) Cr.PC, P.S Maurya Enclave.
INTERROGATION & MODUS-OPERANDI

During interrogation, the accused Puneet Anand revealed that on 28.07.16, he along with his friends namely Mukesh, Susheel and Monty had committed robbery of several Lakh near Punjabi Bagh Flyover from two boys who were riding on a Scooty and had kept cash in a bag. On the night of 29.07.16, he left for Amritsar, Punjab to join his friends Susheel and Monty at the house of Susheel. Since, then he has been absconding and hiding. He had been facing shortage of money hence he had come to Delhi to meet his parents or friends for deciding further course of action. He also disclosed that on the day of incident, he along with Monty was riding on a scooty. Puneet took out the key of the scooty of victim and Susheel robbed the bag containing cash Rs.80 Lakh at the point of pistol. Thereafter, they absconded from the spot.
