1619 stolen mobile phones/Tabs worth around Rs. 55 lacs recovered.

  • Gang of thieves indulged in theft of container loaded with Mobiles Phones /Tabs busted : 2 accused arrested.

          With the arrest of two accused persons namely Ravi Kumar, age 26 years r/o H. No. 823, Tarachand Colony, Mahipalpur, Delhi and Rajat Sehrawat, age 20 years r/o Mahipalpur, Delhi, the team of STF, South District has solved theft case of mobile phones / Tabs and recovered stolen mobiles phones / Tabs of Datawind Innovations Pvt. Ltd (make Jeotex) worth around Rs. 55 lacs.  

Brief facts:

           Sh. Ravi Sehrawat r/o Village Nangal Dewat, Vasant Kunj, New Delhi and owner of ‘Shiva Transport Services’ having its office in Rangpuri, Mahipalpur, New Delhi reported that on 03.08.16, his driver Subodh Choudhary r/o Madhubani, Bihar had left from Amritsar to Rangpuri, Mahipalpur, Delhi to deliver the container loaded with mobile phones / Tabs of Datawind Company (make Jeotex) from Amritsar, Punjab.  But the container didn’t reach at the designated place in Mahipalpur on 04.08.16. Then, the complainant called his driver on his mobile phone which was found to be switched off.  He searched the vehicle and on 07/08/16, he found it parked abandoned at 100 Foota Road, Chhattarpur, Mehrauli.  On checking the container, he found that 151 boxes of Tabs/mobile phones (total no. 2924) were missing and driver was untraceable.  In this regard, a case vide FIR No. 1467/16 dated 07.08.16 u/s 408 IPC was registered at P.S. Mehrauli and investigation taken up.  The case was entrusted to STF, South District of further investigation.  

Investigation:
During the course of investigation, the police team worked relentlessly and deployed source to get clues about the movement of absconding Subodh Choudhary.  The concerted efforts of police team yielded results which revealed that after theft, stolen articles were shifted somewhere in Maruti Eeco Vans.  On 25/08/16, a secret information was received regarding one Ravi who was a driver of Maruti Eeco van which was involved in theft of container loaded with mobile phones/Tabs in Mehrauli. Immediately, a raiding team consisting of  SI Proshun, HC Narender, Cts Sandeep and Anil  led by Inspr. Vijay Singh Chandel, I/C STF was formed under the supervision of Sh. Sanjay Bhatia, Addl. DCP-II, South District.  A trap was laid in Tara Chand Colony, Mahipalpur and suspect Ravi and one of his associate namely Rajat were apprehended.  On search, two stolen Tabs (make Jeotex) recovered at their instance from the house of Ravi and two Tabs recovered from the house of Rajat.  Maruti Eeco van used in the crime was also recovered at the instance of accused persons.
 
Interrogation:
During interrogation, accused persons disclosed their involvement in theft of container loaded with mobile phones/Tabs of Datawind Company (make Jeotex) from the area of Mehrauli.  They further disclosed that Amit, Virender and Sharavan are mastermind of the theft. They had booked three Eeco Vans in the night of 04.08.16 for stealing the mobile phones/Tabs from a truck. As per their plan, they stole boxes of mobile phones / Tabs from the truck with the help of driver of the truck and loaded them in their Eeco Vans. Stolen mobile phones and Tabs were kept in a room in Mehrauli by Amit, Virender and Sharavan for further disposal. At the instance of accused persons, total 1615 mobile phones/tabs packed in boxes were recovered from a house in Mehrauli.

Two sophisticated pistols alongwith 9 cartridges recovered. A reward of Rs 50,000/- was declared by Delhi Police for his arrest. A team of Special Cell, Northern Range, led by Insp.
