  • DECEASED WAS WORKING ROUND-THE CLOCK

On 10.08.16 at 06:55 AM,  information was received at police station Hari Nagar that ‘Ek Aadmi Miraj Cinema ke opposite mein Mara Pada hai” (there’s a dead man on the road here). The PCR van as well as the  local police rushed to the spot immediately and found a male dead body on the road. On scanning the CCTV footage installed in the nearby area, it revealed that the deceased was hit by a TSR (Goods Carrier Tempo).

Local enquiries were made and after painstaking efforts, the identity of the deceased was established as Matbool (age 35 years) S/o Basiruddin R/o Village & Post Office Amal Jhadi, P.S. Islampur District Uttridinajpur, West Bengal and presently residing at rented accommodation in Village Tihar, Delhi.
Massive multi prolonged police effort revealed that the TSR (Tempo) belongs to one Rajesh Gupta age 25 years S/o Gayaprasad Gupta R/o WZ-33/A, Gali No.18, New Mahavir Nagar, Tilak Nagar, Delhi. Various police teams were constituted, under the leadership of Inspr. Rajesh Brar, SHO/Hari Nagar and under overall supervision of ACP/Tilak Nagar, Shri Aalap Patel.  Raids were conducted and the errant driver was nabbed and arrested, following a tip off. Further, at his instance the TSR (Tempo) bearing registration number DL 1L-Q-1183 was recovered near to his house and seized accordingly. In this regard case FIR No. 541/16 u/s 279/304 IPC is being investigated at Police Station Hari Nagar.
During the course of enquiry, it revealed that the errant driver of the TSR was trading in milk supply. On the fateful day, deceased Matibool was walking to his house to change clothes before stepping out to ride his e-rickshaw.  During night, he used to work as security guard and during daytime he used to ride his e-rickshaw and earn. Nobody bothered to take him to the nearby hospital. There was no eye-witness to this road death case. The case was totally clueless. During the course of enquiry, the errant driver added that he lost control over the vehicle and hit the victim. Perusal of CCTV footage depicts that after hitting the Matbool from back he did come out of vehicle looked at victim and his vehicle but did not help and also one rickshaw puller is stealing the mobile phone of the deceased. Police is looking for the rickshaw puller.
It would not be out of place to mention here that in the light of Hon’ble  Supreme Court’s direction no good samaritanis are detained or forced to disclose his or her identity. Hence, Delhi Police is once again appealling to the general public to provide immediate help to any accident victim, which could save someone’s life.
