GIRL & HER ASSOCIATE HELD IN CHEATING THROUGH SWAPPING OF ATM CARDS FRAUD

  • 05 CASES HAVE BEEN WORKED OUT – 6 ATM CARDS RECOVERED
  • THE GIRL IS AN ASPIRING MODEL
The team of Police Station Mukherjee Nagar, North West District has busted a gang of ATM cheats by arresting one girl Deepali (Name Changed) (22 years) R/o Nand Nagri Delhi and Shakil Malik (29 years) S/o Jumma Malik R/o Shahid Nagar Sahibabad, GZB UP in case FIR No. 646/16 dated 07.08.2016 U/s 420/34 IPC at PS Mukherjee Nagar. The accused persons fraudulently used to interchange (swapping) victims ATM cards with other card at the ATM Kiosks on the pretext of helping them.  The arrested girl is an aspiring Model and had done modelling also.

BRIEF INCIDENT
On 15.07.2016, one complainant Anita Rani R/o Indira Vihar Delhi had gone to PNB ATM Kiosk, Indira Vihar for withdrawing cash.  Meanwhile one girl aged approx. 22-23 years also came inside the ATM cabin.  As the complainant was not able to withdraw the money as machine was not working properly.  The girl offered her help to the complainant in withdrawing cash.  The accused girl took the ATM card of the complainant and swiftly exchanged (swapped) it with another ATM Card.  The complainant lady went home after getting mini statement only.  As soon as the complainant lady reached her home, she received a SMS intimating withdrawal of Rs.25000/- from her account through ATM.  The complainant immediately checked her ATM card and found that her ATM card was not the original one and probably taken away by the girl at ATM kiosk. Accordingly a case vide FIR No. 646/16 dated 07.08.2016 U/s 420/34 IPC at PS Mukherjee Nagar was registered.
On 07.8.2016, the complainant lady was walking near the same PNB, ATM Kiosk and coincidently she saw accused girl (later identified as Deepali-name changed) alongwith his associate boy (later identified as Shakil Mailk) at PNB ATM Kiosk.  She immediately informed the nearby beat staff HC Surender and Ct Kunwarpal about the accused boy and girl.  The beat staff sensing something amiss, without wasting time apprehended the accused girl Deepali and her associate Shakil from the spot and brought to police station.

INVESTIGATION AND EXAMINATION

On sustained interrogation, of both boy & girl, their identity was revealed as Deepali and Shakil.  Deepali disclosed that she aspire to be a model which require a good portfolio of her pictures.  She had approached a famous professional fashion photographer from Mumbai to do her portfolio who asked Rs.2.5 lakh from her as fee. As she had learnt the trick from Google internet via “How to hack ATM” she thought to earn quick money by using ATM card cheating.  She learned the simple method of interchanging (swapping) ATM Cards of gullible persons at ATM machine kiosks in year 2014.  Meanwhile, she had also met Shakil through a common friend 5 months back.  Shakil owns a Santro car and is expert in driving.  Deepali used Shakil as her driver and shared the booty with him.  05 Cases of such ATM fraud of PS Mukherjee Nagar have been worked out.

Two sophisticated pistols alongwith 9 cartridges recovered. A reward of Rs 50,000/- was declared by Delhi Police for his arrest. A team of Special Cell, Northern Range, led by Insp. Sanjay Nagpal, Inspr. Prabhat Kumar & Insp. Pankaj Kumar under the supervision of Shri Pankaj Sood, ACP has arrested sharp shooter of notorious and desperate gangster Naveen @ Khati namely  Sagar @ Punter, alongwith his associate Ravi @ Cheeru. Two pistols alongwith 9 cartridges were recovered from their possession.  A Bullet Motor-Cycle used by gangster has also been seized.
