SENSATIONAL MURDER-CUM-ROBBERY CASE

 SENSATIONAL MURDER-CUM-ROBBERY CASE OF A JEWELLELR OF KAROL BAGH  SOLVED : TWO ACCUSED ARRESTED, ONE JUVENILE APPREHENDED : PART OF ROBBED JEWELLERY RECOVERED

With the arrest of two accused persons namely (1) Sahil @ Sanky aged 21 years s/o Ramesh r/o Mayur Vihar, Gali No.25, Guhana Road, Sonipat, Haryana and (2) Sanjay @ Sonipat aged 34 years s/o Krishan r/o Village-Gorer, Distt. Sonipat, Haryana and apprehending one juvenile, the joint team of Special Staff/Central District and teams of Police Station Karol Bagh, Prasad Nagar and Darya Ganj have solved a sensational murder case of a jeweler of Karol Bagh area. The part of robbed jewellery as well as two motorcycles used in the commission of crime have been recovered.

INCIDENT
On 30.04.17, a PCR call was received at PS Karol Bagh regarding murder of a jeweler in Gali No. 8, Bedan Pura, Karol Bagh. On receipt of the call, SHO/Karol Bagh along with staff reached the spot where caller Bhagirath (servant of the deceased) stated that his owner Sh. Ravinder Kapoor s/o Late Sh. Gyan Chand Kapoor r/o H. No.C-57, Pushpanjali Enclave, Pritam Pura, Delhi was murdered by some unknown persons in the shop of the deceased jeweler. The dead body of the Shri Ravinder Kapoor was found lying on the floor with his hands and legs were tied with the ropes and his mouth was also shut with the tapes. Subsequently, a case of murder was registered vide FIR No.117/14 dated 30.04.17 u/s 302/34 IPC at PS Karol Bagh and the investigation was taken up.  

TEAM & INVESTIGATION
It was a sensation case since it took place in jewelers market of Karol Bagh. Several teams were constituted under the supervision of Shri Anto Alphonse Addl.DCP/Central as well as the undersigned. One team was led by Sh. Harmohan Chauhan ACP/Operation Cell consisting of Inspr. Rakesh Sharma Inspr. Special Staff, SI Satender, SI Surender, SI Majid Khan, ASI Gajender, ASI Virender, ASI Lal Singh, Ct. Naveen, Ct. Ravinder and Ct. Suresh and other team was led by Sh. Shiv Dayal ACP/Karol Bagh consisting of Inspr. Mukesh Tyagi, SHO/Karol Bagh, Inspr. Daya Sagar ATO/Karol Bagh, ASI Arun Kumar and ASI Shiv Kumar of PS Karol Bagh; Inspr. Vikramjeet Singh, SHO/Prasad Nagar alongwith SI Sohan Lal (PS Prasad Nagar) and Inspr. Satender Mohan SHO/Darya Ganj.

It was a blind case since the identity of the assailants was not known to anybody who were present at the shop at the time of incident. During the investigation, CCTV footage was obtained from the cameras installed at the spot and nearby areas. While analyzing the footage, it was revealed that four persons were seen entering the building just before the time of incident. The footage was shared with the shopkeepers and resident of the nearby areas.  
Further, sources were deployed in the area and local intelligence was also developed. Meanwhile, the team of Special Staff got an important lead through CCTV footage and analyzing the records of previously involved criminals. One Sanjay @ Sonipat r/o Vill. Gorer, Sonipat, Haryana was zeroed in and teams of Special Staff and PS Karol Bagh laid a trap in Sonipat and finally managed to apprehend him in the afternoon of 23.05.17 along with his accomplice Sahil @ Sanky. Further, on the basis of disclosure of both the accused persons, one juvenile was also apprehended from Sonipat, Haryana in the morning of 24.05.17.

INTERROGATION

Both the accused persons were subjected to sustained interrogation during which accused Sanjay disclosed that about two/three years ago, he had met with one Sanjay Chawla (mastermind of this incident) in Tihar jail who was there in a cheating case while accused Sanjay was there in a dacoity case. Both of them decided to work together and after release from jail, they cheated many jewelers in Chandni Chowk and Karol Bagh area. It was also revealed that Sanjay Chawla has knowledge about the jeweler of Karol Bagh and Chandni Chowk area and he targeted the deceased person since he was an old aged person who could be a soft target. On the day of incident, Sanjay @ Sonipat along with Sanjay Chawla, Sahil and one juvenile went to the deceased’s shop on two motorcycles. They parked their motorcycles in the street and went upstairs to the shop of deceased where he was present alone. They tied his hands and legs with ropes and put a big piece of cloth in his mouth and further put tape on his mouth. Then, they robbed the jewellery articles kept in the shop. Meanwhile, his servant Bhagirath came in the shop, the accused persons overpowered him and also tied him with rope.  Then, they decamped with robbed booty. However, the deceased died due to smothering.
