INAUGURATION OF ROAD SAFETY AWARENESS SUMMER CAMP–2017

The Road safety awareness summer camp – 2017 was inaugurated on 15th May 2017 by Sh. Amulya Patnaik, IPS, Commissioner of Police Delhi in a special function at Traffic Training park, Baba Kharak Singh Marg in the presence of Sh. Ajay Kashyap, Spl. Commissioner of Police/Traffic; Sh. P. Kamraj, Spl. Commissioner of Police, Law & Order (Southern Range); Sh. S.B.K. Singh, Spl. Commissioner of Police, Law & Order (Northern Range); Ms. Garima Bhatnagar Jt. CP/Traffic; Sh. P. Rajagopi, General Manager, Sales & Business Planning, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt. Ltd. (HMSI), other senior Delhi Police officers, dignitaries from corporate houses and agencies participating in the summer camp. The summer camp is being held at the 5 Traffic parks at traffic training park Baba Kharak Singh Marg, Bal Bhawan, Pragati Maidan, Punjabi Bagh, Roshanara Bagh.  

Beginning from today i.e., 15th May 2017, the summer camp will continue till 9th June 2017 at above mentioned venues. There will be four batches each having five days duration, with 100-150 students in each batch. The timings of the summer camp will be from 8.30 hrs to 10.30 hrs.
These summer camps are being organized with the dual objective of helping children in utilizing their summer vacation in a meaningful way and enable them learn life skill techniques and road safety awareness in an enjoyable manner which will have a bearing on their personality in the years to come. The course contents of the summer camp has been so designed to inculcate good road safety habits in the students which in turn will help them grow up into sensible, sensitive and responsible road users.

  • Interesting competitions

  • Manual drill training
  • lecture on traffic rules, road safety norms, road signs, signal and markings
  • First-Aid
  • Self Defense
  • Disaster Management
  • Fire safety
  • Nukkar natak on road safety
  • Computer games based on road safety
  • Visit to intersections wherein children will be holding placards with road safety messages to sensitize road users
  • Painting competition, quiz competition, Essay writing competition (Students will have to choose one topic and write an essay in 250 to 300 words (max limit) either in English or Hindi. The three best entries will be considered for prizes (Quiz & Essay Writing Competition)
On the occasion of the inauguration of the summer camp, Sh. Amulya Patnaik, the Commissioner of Police Delhi commended the efforts made by Delhi Traffic police in organizing such a unique initiative for the benefit of school children. He stated that such activities will go a long way in inculcating good road safety habits in the students which will help them grow up into sensible, sensitive and responsible road users.

Various corporate houses such as SIAM, Hero Motocorp, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt. Ltd, Indraprastha Gas Ltd., partnered in organizing the summer camp.
