Anti-terror ‘Parakram’ Vans launched

Delhi Police inducts NSG trained drivers and commandos
in PCR Unit to counter terror in the city.


The first batch of  ‘Parakram’ Commando Vehicles were flagged off today by Sh. Amulya Patnaik, Commissioner of Police, Delhi from Police Headquarters.
              
PCR Van is the lifeline of Delhi in case of emergency. The services of PCR Van are available for citizens of Delhi 24x7x365. In any emergency situation PCR Vans are the first responder.  In the light of recent terror incidents across the globe, Delhi Police has decided to add further anti-terror backup in the city by inducting “PARAKRAM” Commando Vehicles in PCR Unit. These ‘Parakram’ Vans will be mandated for anti-terror and other serious situations warranting armed response. The primary aim of deploying these ‘Parakram’ Vans is to respond to any terror attack in real life situations promptly and to instill a feeling of security and safety amongst citizens with their visibility and deterrence.  It also strengthens the existing deployment of district police.
  

‘Parakram’ Vans would be located on selected vulnerable and strategic points comprising vulnerable high footfall areas and iconic buildings all over Delhi.  To start with,  these will  include Vijay Chowk, Palika Bazar, I.P.Marg, Saket Select City Mall, Vasant Kunj Mall, Pacific Mall (Subhash Nagar), Market/Mall Complex (Netaji Subhash Place), Akshardham Temple, Lotus Temple, Jhandewalan.
All these ‘Parakram’ Vans are GPRS enabled and are fitted with pan Delhi wireless communication.

Each ‘Parakram’ Van will be manned by one driver, one In charge and three commandos. Drivers deployed on these vans will be armed with small weapon and are trained by NSG in offensive/evasive driving with 360 degree turning and firing in mobile mode. Commandos will be in alert mode round-the-clock and will be attired in fatigues enabling agility. All commandos will be armed with high fire power AK-47 rifles. Commandos have undergone firing training at Delhi Police Long Range training facility in Tapukara, Rajasthan. The contingent of commandos will also have a fair mix of lady commandos.

These 10 ‘Parakram’ Vans are part of a pilot project and after realistic impact assessment, the scheme would be extended to more locations across the city in due course after vulnerability analysis.

Sagar @ Punter a sharp shooter of Naveen Khati Gang arrested

Two sophisticated pistols alongwith 9 cartridges recovered. A reward of Rs 50,000/- was declared by Delhi Police for his arrest. A team of Special Cell, Northern Range, led by Insp. Sanjay Nagpal, Inspr. Prabhat Kumar & Insp. Pankaj Kumar under the supervision of Shri Pankaj Sood, ACP has arrested sharp shooter of notorious and desperate gangster Naveen @ Khati namely  Sagar @ Punter, alongwith his associate Ravi @ Cheeru. Two pistols alongwith 9 cartridges were recovered from their possession.  A Bullet Motor-Cycle used by gangster has also been seized. A reward of Rs 50,000/- was declared by Delhi Police for his arrest. There is a long history of gang war in Najafgarh and adjoining areas.
