28 STOLEN I-PHONE WORTH 19.5 LACS RECOVERED

  • TWO ACCUSED PERSONS ARRESTED.
  • TOTAL 40 I-PHONES STOLEN FROM CARGO COMPLEX, IGI AIRPORT, PRIOR TO OFFICIAL LAUNCH IN INDIA.
  • ACCUSED PERSONS USED TO STEAL GOODS FROM CARGO COMPLEX, IGI AIRPORT AND SELL THE SAME TO BONAFIDE CUSTOMERS.
  
INTRODUCTION: Crime Branch has arrested two accused persons namely 1. Preetam Nishad r/ Nangloi, Delhi, 2. Anurag Singh r/o  Kishan Garh, Vasant Kunj and solved a theft case of PS IGI Airport, where 40 red iphone 7 were stolen from the cargo complex of IGI Airport, prior to the official launch of the phone in India.

CASE HISTORY, On 14/04/17 apple scheduled to launch the new red color of Iphone 7 in India and stock for the launch reached cargo complex of IGI Airport on 12/04/17, but later that day it was discovered that 40 pcs of the red iphone 7 worth 28 lacs, were missing from the import cargo. Consequently a case vide eFIR No.ID-IA-000061 was registered and investigation was taken up by P.S.IGI Airport.

INFORMATION, TEAM & OPERATION: - SI Arvind Kumar posted with South Western Range, Crime Branch received information that one Preetam Singh is involved in the theft case of 40 i-phones from Cargo complex, IGI Airport. This information was further developed and a team of Crime Branch led by SI Arvind, ASIs Shreeom, Kuldeep, Satender, HC Gangadhar and Const. Mukesh was constituted under close supervision of ACP Jasbir Singh to nab the criminal.  
On 13.05.17 with the help of technical surveillance and tireless efforts of team accused Preetam Nishad nabbed and after interrogation arrested in this case.

Modus Operandi - On interrogation accused Preetam stated that he used to work as a loader at IGI airport cargo complex with KishanPal Transport Service where he met Anurag Singh who was also working there as a Loader, few months back he lost his Job but he was having the ID card. Preetam and his associate Anurag devised a plan to turn their fortune by committing theft  of expensive cargo from Airport cargo complex. As Anurag was still working as loader at Cargo complex he identified the areas which were not covered under CCTV Surveillance and kept a close eye over the shipments arriving at the cargo complex, but he could not take the stolen articles out of the Airport before finishing his shift. On 12/04/17 he saw a fresh shipment of Apple I phones, He immediately contacted Preetam and called him at the cargo complex of IGI Airport. Anurag ripped the large package and stole 4 small packages containing 10 I phones each, which Preetam took immediately and left. Anurag joined him later after finishing his shift and they split up the 40 i-phones in equal shares among them.

Further they sold the i-phones to unsuspecting buyers by telling them that they are purchased from the auction of customs department. On the instance of accused Preetam Singh accused Anurag was also arrested who also corroborate the version of accused Preetam Singh. Till now 25 I-phone out of the 40 stolen i-phones have been recovered.
