Notorious gang of robbers cum auto lifters cum burglars busted : 5 accused

  • persons including gang leader and a lady receiver arrested.  
  • Stolen cash, gold & silver jewelry, mobile phones, laptops, Scooties and US Dollars recovered.  
  • 54 cases of robbery, burglary and M V theft worked out.

         The police team of PS South Campus, South District has arrested 5 accused namely Roshan Messy, age 18 years s/o George Messy, Vicky Rawat @ Vikky Landa, age 24 years s/o Satya Singh, Sharon Kant, age 19 years S/o Krishan Kant, Monu, age 27 years all residents of Munirka Village, New Delhi and Anju Chauhan, age 25 years and recovered stolen cash, US dollars, gold / silver jewelry, expensive mobile phones, laptop, I-Pad, Scooties and solved 54 cases of robbery, burglary and M.V theft.

Brief facts:

        In view of the incidents of night burglary in the area of PS South Campus, especially in the area of Shanti Niketan, such as burglary in the house of a French Diplomat and nearby houses, vulnerable points were identified, picketing and motor cycle patrols were intensified and staff was deployed in plain clothes at identified locations to keep close watch over the activities of burglars, operating in the area and arrest them.  Sources were also deployed to get clues about the movements of criminals active in the area. Pink file of all the budding criminals who were previously involved in burglary in the area were scrutinized which revealed that some of the budding criminals, residing in the area of Munirka are involved in these burglaries.  

On 17.05.17, secret information was received regarding assembling of burglars in the area of Shanti Niketan. Immediately, a police team consisting of SI Ashok Kumar, HC Ram Prasad,  Ct Manoj Kumar, Ct Sajjan and Ct Ajay led by Inspr. Anant Kumar Gunjan, SHO/South Campus under the supervision of Sh. Anand Kumar Rai, ACP/Safdarjung Enclave was formed and a trap was laid at Natthu Chowk, South Moti Bagh.  Due to well planned strategy, the police team succeeded in apprehending three accused namely Roshan Messy, Saron and Monu while they were riding on a without number plate Scooty, after a long chase.  

Interrogation :

During interrogation, it was revealed that Scooty was stolen from the area of PS South Campus in Case FIR No. 009497/17 dated 30/03/17 u/s 379 IPC.  During further interrogation, accused persons disclosed that they used to steal the vehicles for reccee in day time to proceed to commit night burglary.  At the instance of accused persons, stolen gold jewelry and 2 Scooties were recovered.  During further investigation, their associates namely Vicky Rawat and receiver of stolen property Anju Chauhan were also arrested and stolen gold jewelry, laptop, mobile phones and cash was recovered.  

During interrogation, accused persons disclosed to have committed many incidents of theft / burglary / M. V. theft in the area of PSs South Campus, R.K. Puram, Sarojini Nagar, Saket, Safdarjung Enclave and Hauz Khas in the past.  At the instance of accused persons, stolen silver / gold jewelry, mobile phones, laptops, Scooty, US Dollars and cash was recovered from Ghaziabad, UP and Munirka Delhi.  At the disclosure of accused persons, 55 cases of burglary / theft / M. V. theft of PSs South Campus, R.K. Puram, Sarojini Nagar, Saket, Safdarjung Enclave and Hauz Khas have been worked out.  

On 11/05/17, they had committed burglary at a house on  Ground Floor, Satya Niketan. In this regard, a case vide e-FIR No. 000158/17 u/s 454/380 IPC was registered.  In this case, Rs. 3 lacs, 4 gold bangles, 2 pairs gold ear tops, one gold necklace, 5 gold ring, 2 pairs anklets and 4/5 silver notes were stolen. On the basis of identification of the spot and disclosure statement, accused Roshan Messy, Saron and Monu were arrested and their three days PC remand was obtained for recovery of case property.  During PC remand, they disclosed to have committed various incidents of burglary/theft/M.V. theft in area of PSs South Campus, R.K. Puram, Saket, Sarojini Nagar and Hauz Khas along with their other associates namely Vicky Rawat.

On 4th May, they entered in a house on Ground Floor, Shanti Niketan for committing night burglary which belongs to a French Diplomat and after spending an hour, they did not find anything valuable and after hearing some noise, they left the house and committed burglary on the 1st Floor of the same building which belongs to one retired IAS Officer. At the instance of accused, part of stolen jewelry containing two Kadas and rings were recovered. In this regard, case FIR No. 51/17 u/s 380/457 IPC and FIR No. 56/17 457/380/511 IPC was registered.

On 6th May, they committed night burglary at a house in Shanti Niketan and had stolen cash and foreign currency worth around Rs. 6.93 Lacs. In this regard, Case FIR No. 54/17 u/s 457/380 IPC was registered.  At the instance of accused, part of stolen foreign currency and cash was recovered.

In the evening of 14.05.17, they committed night burglary at a flat in Golf View Apartment, Saket and had stolen cash and jewelry. In this regard, a case vide FIR No. 547/17 u/s 457/380 IPC PS Saket was registered.  At the instance of accused, 4 gold Kadas, 1 gold set, 1 necklace, 2 ear rings, 1 jewelry pouch, 3 bundles of new currency note containing Rs. 10/-, Rs. 5/- and Rs. 1-/ and some cash was recovered.

In the month of September, 2016, they committed day burglary at a house in  Shanti Niketan which belongs to a Doctor in Max Hospital and had stolen cash and jewelry. In this regard, a case vide e-FIR No. 251/16 u/s 457/380 IPC was registered at PS South Campus. The stolen jewelry articles were given to one Anju Chauhan (friend of accused) who mortgaged the same with India Infoline Finance Ltd. and took gold loan of Rs. 1,35,000 by using her ID. The deposited jewelry (weighing around 80 gms.) has been recovered.

Roshan Massy, age 18 years s/o George Massi r/o Munirka Village, Vasant Vihar, New Delhi is a gang leader.  He is a school dropout.  He is unmarried.  He is previously involved in 16 cases of burglary / theft / M. V. theft and Arms Act of PSs South Campus, R. K. Puram, Sarojini Nagar and Vasant Vihar.  He was living in a rented house in Village Munirka along with his father, a driver by profession. He is addicted to drug.  He used to maintain life style from the proceeds of the robbery / burglary.  He confessed that after committing successful burglary, he would spend the stolen money by enjoying party with friends and on articles like branded clothes, shoes, sunglasses and expensive wrist watches.  He is fan of Pop Singer Justine Biber.  He wanted to become a Pop Singer of English songs and wanted to go to Mumbai.

  1. Vicky Rawatage 23 years s/o Satya Singh Rawat r/o Munirka Village, New Delhi is a school dropout.  He has committed burglary / theft / M. V. theft in the residential areas of PSs South Campus, R.K. Puram and Sarojini Nagar. He was residing in Village Munirka alongwith his family.  He is previously involved in 3 cases of theft and robbery of PS Sarojini Nagar. He is addicted to drug.

  1. Monu Lal @ Monuage 26 years s/o Babu Lal R/o Munirka village, Vasant Vihar is illiterate.  He has committed burglary / theft /M. V. theft in the residential areas of PSs South Campus, R.K. Puram and Sarojini Nagar. He was residing in Village Munirka alongwith his family. He is addicted to drug.

  1. Sharon Kant, age 19 years s/o Krishan Kant R/o Ghaziabad, UP is a school dropout.  Presently, he was residing in Village Munirka along with his associates. He has committed burglary / theft / M. V. Theft in the residential areas of PSs South Campus, R.K. Puram and Sarojini Nagar. He family is residing in Ghaziabad, UP. He is addicted to drug.

  1. Anju Chauhan, Age 25 years.  She is receiver of stolen property.
