The Special Staff North West District has busted a racket of Digital Gambling on IPL cricket match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Mumbai Indians, being played at Bengluru, Karnatka. This racket was operating from a Restaurant cum Bar of Ashok Vihar, New Delhi.  Six Punters/Bookies found gambling at the spot and Manager of the restaurant has been arrested. 8 Mobile Phones, one TV Set, Register containing details of the IPL match betting and DVR of CCTV have been seized from the spot and a case vide FIR No.191/17 dated 20.05.17 U/s 3/4/5/9/55 Gambling Act was registered at PS Ashok Vihar, New Delhi.
TEAM AND INVESTIGATION:
    On 19.05.17 at about 8 P.M, specific information was received at special staff North West District about a racket of Digital Gambling on IPL cricket match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Mumbai Indians, being played at Bengluru, Karnatka from one Restaurant cum Bar of Ashok Vihar, New Delhi. This information was further developed and it came to notice that a gambling racket is running at first floor of this Restaurant of Ashok Vihar, New Delhi.  Immediately, a team comprising of SI Manjeet, SI Vikas, ASI Sushil  and ASI Sukhwinder, Ct. Sombeer , Ct. Sanjeet led by Inspr. Balihar Singh under overall supervision of Sh. Anil Kumar, ACP/Operation was constituted to act promptly and to take legal action. After obtaining a proper search warrant, a raid was conducted at a Restaurant cum Bar situated in Phase-II, Ashok Vihar, New Delhi and 6 below mentioned persons were found indulged in gambling at the spot and have been arrested vide case FIR No 191/17, dated 20.05.17 u/s 3/4/5/9/55 Gambling Act was registered at PS- Ashok Vihar, Delhi:-
ARRESTED PERSONS
  1. Anuj Sharma age 26 yrs r/o Phase-IV, Ashok Vihar, New Delhi.
  2. Sahil Gupta age 28 yrs r/o  Sector-24, Rohini, New Delhi.
  3. Sanchit Mittal age 22 yrs r/o Pitampura, New Delhi.
  4. Rishal Nirmal age 26 yrs r/o Janakpuri, New Delhi.
  5. Ashutosh Sharma age 27 yrs r/o Phase-IV, Ashok Vihar, New Delhi.
  6. Sushant Sharma age 29 yrs r/o Phase-IV, Ashok Vihar, New Delhi.
  7. Narinder Bansiwal age 30 yrs r/o Rohini, Sector-16, New Delhi. ( Manager of the restaurant)
INTERROGATION AND MODUS OPERANDI :
  All the accused persons were subjected to intensive interrogation during which all the accused persons disclosed that they stepped into gambling in order to earn quick and easy money. They all further stated that the management and owner of the restaurant have full knowledge about our gambling in the restaurant and they further stated that even the register/stationery is also provided by the staff of the restaurant. The application cricket live line was found running on the mobile phones of all the arrested persons. They all were found further in touch with bookies Montu, Sanjay and Rohit for betting on IPL match.
All the arrested persons belong to middle class families and are well educated. They all have been arrested first time.

1. 8 Mobile phones
2. 1 TV Set
3. 1 Register containing detail of betting
4. 3 DVRs of CCTV

Two sophisticated pistols alongwith 9 cartridges recovered. A reward of Rs 50,000/- was declared by Delhi Police for his arrest. A team of Special Cell, Northern Range, led by Insp. Sanjay Nagpal, Inspr. Prabhat Kumar & Insp.
