A murder most foul cracked

Ø  Committed to kill, wife strangulated husband after administering sleeping pills.
Ø  Remote controlled action conspired with absconding paramour.

 With the arrest of accused lady aged 37 yrs wife of the deceased, the staff of PS Defence Colony, South Districthave solved a blind and brutal murder case and recovered one 'Gamchha' used for strangulating the victim.   

Incident: On 07/04/17, information was received in PS Defence Colony from AIIMS regarding death of a person aged 54 yrs,. The same was lodged in PS Defence Colony vide DD No. 20-A and enquiry was taken up. During enquiry, it was learnt that the deceased was brought to AIIMS by his son and the death had occurred while the deceased was reportedly asleep with his wife in a separate room. He was working as gardener in AIIMS Hospital and was having one son and one daughter from his 1st wife and one son and one daughter from his 2nd wife. Beginning the enquiry, all relatives of the deceased were interrogated but no one suspected any foul play in the death. His wife, who was present in the room, also appeared to be in a shock and unable to explain what had happened. The Post Mortem Examination of the deceased was got conducted at AIIMS Hospital on 07/04/2017 and dead body was handed over for last rites. However, when the PME report was received, the enquiry took a new turn as it mentioned the cause of death as 'Asphyxia due to strangulation. Accordingly, a case FIR No. 68/17, u/s 302 IPC, dated 12/05/17, PS Defence Colony was registered and investigation was taken up. 

Investigation: During investigation, the roles and profiles of suspects were thoroughly scanned. It was found that accused’s married life was not going smooth. This led to an intensive analysis of her movements and contacts prior to the incident. Local intelligence indicated to repeated misunderstandings between the couple. A technical clue led the police to the discovery of a cell phone number being used by her which was not revealed earlier. The study of its CDR revealed a new character who was identified as r/o District Mujaffarpur, Bihar, a shady occultist by profession. When she was confronted with this piece of evidence, she broke down and disclosed of her ongoing relationship with the occultist and the plot behind the murder.
          The accused lady disclosed that while her married life was passing through a turbulent phase, she came in the contact with him while attending a marriage function in family at her native place in Bihar. She discussed her matrimonial issued with him who initially promised help in bringing her married life to bliss through the use of charms but later, they developed intimacy. To remain in touch with him she purchased a new SIM card which was not in the knowledge of anyone else. To ensure double secrecy, he also purchased a one-to-one cell phone number and for a while, they continued this illicit relationship.
         
          The CDRs of the twin new numbers so emerged during investigation revealed that they were in communication with each other till 01:05 am on 07/4/2016, i.e. till the murder of husband of accused. Both the cell phones were switched off after the murder was committed.

Background:

          Detailed interrogation of accused revealed that he (occultist) used to visit Delhi frequently to meet her. During his last visit in March 2017, they entered into a criminal conspiracy to get rid of her husband. As a part of the plan, he gave strips of sleeping pills to the accused and asked her to wait for his instructions. On 06/04/2017, as per telephonic instructions given by him she mixed the sleeping pills in the food of her husband and once he went off to deep slumber, made a loop (fanda) with a Gamcha and strangulated him. As pre-decided, after committing the crime, she broke the SIM card and phone used in crime and threw them in a nearby dustbin.
          
           During investigation, the Gamcha which was used in crime was recovered at the instance of the accused. Co accused is currently absconding.
          
           The staff involved in the good work is being suitably rewarded. Efforts are underway to apprehend the absconding accused.
