KINGPIN OF NOTORIOUS “GULEL GANG” ARRESTED

The team of Special Staff/West District Delhi has arrested the kingpin of ‘GULEL GANG’ namely Anthony. With his arrest one ladies purse containing Rs. 66,000/, Aadhar Card of the complainant, stolen debit Card of Axis Bank, one slingshot with iron pallets and one stolen Hero Honda Splendor motorcycle have been recovered from his possession.   

PROFILE OF ACCUSED  IS AS UNDER: -
Anthony S/o Ramu R/o- J.J.Colony, Inderpuri, Delhi, Age – 23 years. He is also found involved in 05 cases of thefts of Police Stations – South-Rohini and Kirti Nagar Delhi.

INFORMATION/OPERATION: -
The incidents of theft of valuables from the cars by the ‘Gulel Gang’ were being reported in the district. The culprits used to break the window pane of target car with the help of a slingshot and steal valuables. Keeping in view the same, the team of Special Staff/ West District, Delhi was sensitized to crack down the gang behind this particular crime head. 
          The massive human efforts and diligence bore fruit. On 01/05/2017, information was received to ASI Dilbag Singh posted in Special Staff/West that 02 members of the ‘Gulel Gang’ including their kingpin namely Anthony would pass through Rohtak Road to reach at Jwala Heri market, Paschim Vihar. Immediately, a team comprising of SI Sandeep Dabas, ASI Dilbag Singh, HC Rupesh Kumar No. 573/W and Ct. Yogesh Kumar No. 3323/W led by Inspr./Special Staff Surender Singh Sandhu under overall supervision of Sh. Jagjit Sangwan, ACP/Operations/ West District, Delhi was constituted to act promptly.
          Accordingly, a trap was laid at the traffic intersection of SPM College - Rohtak Road and started monitoring vehicles heading towards Paschim Vihar. At around 5.40 PM, a Hero Honda motorcycle was seen coming and on pointing of informer, the vigilant team swiftly swung in to action. However, on noticing the movement of the raiding team, the pillion rider smelled suspicious and immediately ran away onto the opposite carriageway and disappeared by taking advantage of heavy traffic. The team apprehended the motorcycle rider who introduced himself as Anthony,  he was asked to produce the documents of motorcycle but he kept misleading the team by presenting wrong facts. However, on sustained interrogation, he broke down and disclosed that he alongwith his associate stole this motorcycle from Ambedkar Hospital, Rohini, Delhi a year ago. On enquiry, the motorcycle found stolen vide e-FIR No. 4354/16, dated 11/02/16, e-Police Station – M.V. theft Crime Branch (P.S. North Rohini), Delhi. Hence the motorcycle was taken into police possession and the accused was arrested.

DISCLOSURE AND MODUS OPERANDI: -
          During his personal search a ladies purse containing Rs. 66,000/-, one Aadhar Card and one Debit card of Axis Bank found in his possession. The team enquired him about the recovered purse. Initially, he kept dodging the team by presenting wrong facts. However, on sustained interrogation, he broke down and disclosed that the purse was stolen by him in association with his associate from a Mahindra XUV car parked in front of Reliance fresh Bali Nagar, Delhi today afternoon only. On enquiry it found that a case vide e-FIR No. WD-MN-000288, dated 01/05/2017, U/S 379 IPC, e-Police Station Moti Nagar, Delhi is registered in this regard.
          On sustained interrogation the accused disclosed that he along with his associate has committed numerous thefts in similar modus operandi, but could not recall the same. They used to carry a small slingshot and iron pallet balls. They target cars parked in busy markets or on roads. One of the gang member reikies the target car and breaks the window glass with the help of slingshot. Thereafter another member takes the charge and steals the valuables. After that they disappear from the spot on their motorcycle. They use stolen motorcycles so that they are not identified if spotted by public or in CCTVs.
