CYBER AWARENESS PROGRAM WITH SCHOOL CHILDREN

ORGANISED IN SOUTH WEST DISTRICT
South West District organized a mass cyber awareness program with school children in association with NGO ‘Red Apple’ at National Law University, Dwarka. In this awareness program, approximately 1200 students (boys & girls) of 20 schools of Dwarka Sub Division participated along with their teachers. At this occasion, Sh. D.C. Nath, IPS (Retd.)  Former Special Director of Intelligence Bureau & Sh. P.C. Haldhar, IPS (Retd.) Former Director of Intelligence Bureau was present. Both the Guests were welcomed by Sh. Surender Kumar, Deputy Commissioner of Police, South West District and in his addressed to the students and briefed them about the perceptions of threats with cyber world in India. The students were also aware about the facts that all the data which is interfaced through various applications is being stored in the servers mostly located in Foreign Countries. He also told some of the achievements made by South West District in last one year. Under the flagship of “Sashakti”, more than 12000 girl students of 52 schools have been imparted self defense training in 2016 and in 2017, 17 schools have been covered under this program and self defense training is being imparted to the girls students. Besides, Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, celebration of Yoga Day, Police Station visits of school children were the other programs organized by South West District in last year. During Police Station visits of school children, they were sensitized about the civic sense. ‘Prahri’ is the other community outreach program organized by South West District. Under this program, private security guards, chowkidaars of the area have been enrolled and they were interacted by police officers.
    Sh. P.C. Haldhar, addressed the students and gave some tips to them. He told that time is changing rapidly and we should be careful in cyber world. He told that we should take precautions in cyber world as we take in our real life. We should not give any message in cyber world which is not acceptable in real world. He also told that smart phones are the biggest source to track our privacy. We should avoid to visit certain websites, do not download unnecessary applications which are not required otherwise it will be dangerous to us. In case of any problem, we should immediately approach to police and do not hesitate to take help of police. He congratulated the South West District Police to organize such meaningful program.
    Sh. D.C. Nath, also addressed the participants under the slogan ‘Educated but not civilized, civilized but not educated’. He told that some of us are not civilized rather than educated and some of us are civilized but not educated. We should help people who are not educated but civilized. In villages, most of the people are not educated but they are civilized.
    During the program, students of Kendriya Vidyalaya, Dwarka, Shri Venkateshwar International School, Dwarka and National Law University performed dance, natak  and saraswati & Ganesha Vandana.
   At last, Sh. Surender Kumar, Deputy Commissioner of Police thanked Sh. P.C. Haldhar and Sh. D.C. Nath for their valuable presence. He also thanked to the NGO ‘Red Apple’ and wished the children for their future.
