TRIO MEMBERS OF INFAMOUSLY ‘MUTTHEBAAZ’ GANG ARRESTED


  • Recovery: - 01 cheated goddess idol locket and two pairs of Ear rings.
  • 09 criminal cases of different Police Stations worked out.
The Special Staff / West district has arrested three members of a gang of cheats infamously known as ‘Mutthebaaz’, who used to target innocent persons by narrating a concocted story and cheat them with their cash, jewelry or other valuable articles. With their arrest,   01 goddess idol locket and 02 pairs of Ear rings cheated vide different FIRs of P.S. Maya Puri, Punjabi Bagh and Hari Nagar, Delhi have been recovered from their possession. Total 09 cases of different police stations of West district have been worked out.

PROFILE OF THE ACCUSED PERSONS: -
  1. Ganesh @ Kalia R/o Raghubir Nagar, Delhi, age – 36 years. He is previously found involved in 11 cases of Cheating, Arms Act and Thefts of PSs Rajouri Garden, Khayala and Safdarjung Enclave.

  1. Ratan R/o Sector-25, Rohini, Delhi, age – 29 years. He previously found in a case vide FIR No. 369/08 u/s 392/34 IPC PS- Tilak Nagar.
  1. Ashok @ Billa R/o Tanki wali jhuggi, Raghubir Nagar, Delhi, Age-22 years. He is previously  found in 02 cases of cheating and thefts.

INFORMATION & OPERATION: -
On 16/05/2017, information was received to ASI Dipender Singh posted in Special Staff/West that three members of the infamous ‘Mutthebaaz’ gang namely Ganesh @ Kalia, Ratan and Ashok @ Billa would come in front of Ghore Wala Mandir, Raghubir Nagar, Delhi. Immediately, a team comprising of ASI Dipender Singh, ASI Dilbag Singh, HC Rupesh Kumar No. 573/W, HC Vikas No. 1720/W, HC Naveen Kumar No. 75/W, Ct. 1306/W and Ct. Amit Kumar No. 2789/W led by Inspr. Surender Singh Sandhu, I/c Special Staff/West District under overall supervision of Sh. Jagjit Sangwan, ACP/ Operations/ West District, Delhi was constituted to nab them.
Accordingly, a trap was laid near Ghore Wala Mandir, Raghubir Nagar, Delhi. At around 3.30 PM, three persons came from Rohtak Road side and started waiting for someone in front of Ghore Wala Mandir. On pointing of informer, the alert raiding team swiftly swung in to action and nabbed trio. They were identified as Ganesh @ Kalia, Ratan and Ashok @ Billa.  They were asked about their presence at the spot. However, they kept misleading the team by presenting wrong facts and could not give any satisfactory reply. Their personal search was conducted and one gold goddess idol locket and two ear rings recovered from their possession. On sustained interrogation, the accused persons confessed that they are members of infamous gang namely ‘Mutthebaaz’ and came here to sell of the cheated booty.
MODUS OPERANDI :-
In their unique modus operandi, one of the gang members (known as ‘Kathabaaz’) approaches their target, especially old aged ladies, and seeks help to catch bus to any Railway Station or interstate bus terminal. In the meantime another gang member (known as ‘Dalal’) also reach their and joins them. The first member would tell that he was beaten by his employer as he had broken the TV set or other valuable article. Hence he run away to go to his native village. He would further narrate that he has stolen a bundle of currency notes from his employer house before fleeing. He would then produce a fake packet of currency notes wrapped in a piece of cloth tightly tied with thread. He would show a genuine currency note through a purposely torn out part of the packet. Meanwhile the second member would lure their target to take advantage of his innocence and induce him/her to give some cash/ jewelry article in lieu of the packet. By then the victim senses foul play they disappear with booty and the victim is left with a packet of papers containing one currency note of its top.
INTERROGATION: -
The trio disclosed that they belong to very poor families due to which they could not go to school and remain illiterate. They developed this unique trick to cheat the innocent persons. They immediately sell off the booty at through away price and distribute the money in proportionate among each member.

Two sophisticated pistols alongwith 9 cartridges recovered. A reward of Rs 50,000/- was declared by Delhi Police for his arrest. A team of Special Cell, Northern Range, led by Insp.
