Commissioner of Police, Delhi Shri Amulya Patnaik today met the team members who rescued victim doctor from kidnappers and appreciated as well as motivated them for their sterling performance and success in such a sensational and sensitive case.
The victim and his family members, the medical fraternity and the officials of Ola praised the efforts of each team member and also thanked Commissioner of Police, Delhi and Delhi Police today after meeting him at Delhi Police Headquarters for safe rescue of Dr. A. Sreekanth from the abductors.
Shri Amulya Patnaik, Commissioner of Police, Delhi continuously supervised this sensational crime and reviewed progress on daily basis with Spl.CP/L&O (N) Shri SBK Singh and Jt.CP/Eastern Range Shri Ravindra Yadav. He guided and motivated the team members on regular basis. After the successful operations, he appreciated the efforts of entire team who worked with exemplary zeal, high level of professionalism and displayed great sense of duty, dedication and discipline. It was due to the sincere commitment of each team member that the victim was successfully and safely rescued without paying any ransom.
Background:
A sensational kidnapping for ransom case was reported in the PS Preet Vihar in East District Delhi on 07-07-2017, wherein Dr. A Sreekanth, working at Metro Hospital, was abducted by an Ola cab driver, who had got his car registered with Ola on the basis of forged and fabricated documents. The accused demanded ransom of Rs.5 crore from Ola company for releasing the passenger. A case of kidnapping for ransom was registered immediately and investigation was taken up.
Owing to the gravity of the matter and serious threat to the life of the victim, several teams were constituted under the leadership of DCP/East, Sh. Ombir Singh Bishnoi, comprising of Addl. DCsP Shri Sathiyasundaram and Shri N.K. Meena, ACsP Shri Ankit Singh, Shri Hemant Tiwari, Shri Rahul Alwal and Shri Gaurav Gupta, ably supported by several Inspectors (Maninder Singh, Ajay Kumar, Sanjeev Verma, Roopesh Khatri, D.P. Singh, Videsh Singhal, Prashant Yadav, Rajesh Dangwal & Manish Joshi), SIs, HCs and Constables. Besides, a team of ACP Manoj Pant of Shahdara District and Inspectors Aishbir and Vinay of North-East District as well as Inspector Bhushan of Special Cell were also part of the joint operations.

After painstaking efforts and operations lasting for 12 days across three states of Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand, the victim was rescued by the team from Meerut after a brief encounter with the kidnappers.
