SENSATIONAL SHOOTOUT IN THE AREA OF PS UTTAM NAGAR SOLVED, TWO ACCUSED ARRESTED

  • ON 09.07.2017, THE ACCUSED ALONGWITH HIS 4 ASSOCIATES FIRED SEVERAL ROUNDS ON A PERSON IN OM VIHAR AREA, UTTAM NAGAR IN ORDER TO KILL HIM.
  • THE COMPLAINANT HAD SUSTAINED BULLET INJURY IN THE INCIDENT.
 
INTRODUCTION: -
Crime Branch has solved the recent sensational shootout case of PS Uttam Nagar and arrested two accused namely Pankaj Mehta (Age 25 years) @ Satender @ Bhola @ Chintu s/o Sh. Raj Kumar r/o B-173, Janta Colony, Shiv Vihar, Near PS Khyala, Delhi and Praveen (Age 23 Years) @ Atul s/o Sh. Radhey Shyam r/o B-273, Raghubir Nagar, Delhi. In the intervening night of 09/10.07.2017, the arrested accused persons along with their associates had attacked a person namely Akash Sansi at his house in Om Vihar area, Uttam Nagar and fired several rounds in order to kill him. The victim sustained bullet injuries in the incident, which created panic in the area.  
INCIDENT: -
In the night of 09.07.2017, at about 10:00 PM, a sensational shootout took place in Om Vihar area of PS Uttam Nagar, Delhi in which 4-5 unknown assailants equipped with firearms attacked a satta operator namely Aakash Sansi at his house at H.NO. A-82, Om Vihar, Uttam Nagar, Delhi with firearms and fired several rounds in air and finally one round at Aakash. On this, a case vide FIR No. 429/17 dated 10.07.2017 u/s 452,336,323,506,34 IPC was registered at PS Uttam Nagar and during investigation, sections 307 IPC & 25/27 Arms Act were also added.
INFORMATION, TEAM & OPERATION: -
The shootout by unknown assailants in the area of Police Station Uttam Nagar was captured in CCTV and the incident had created a feeling of fear &sensation in the locality.  Crime Branch team was tasked to nab the criminals. ASI Suresh posted in SWR, Crime Branch, received a secret information that the accused Pankaj Mehta @ Satender @ Bhola @ Chintu and Praveen @ Atul, who are involved in the above shootout would come to Dholak Basti, Uttam Nagar to meet their aides. This information was further developed and a team of Crime Branch led by Insp. Sunil Kumar, ASIs Suresh, Santraj, Kartar, HC Gangadhar and Cts Om Prakash & Mukesh was constituted to nab the criminal under supervision of ACP Jasbir Singh. The team laid a trap near the expected place of his arrival and the accused Pankaj Mehta & Praveen were successfully overpowered by the team.

On interrogation, the accused confessed to their involvement in the crime and disclosed that on 09.07.2017, they along with their associates Bhikku, Pradeep and Niranjan had committed the shootout. Accordingly, the accused were arrested.

PROFILE & INTERROGATION: -
Interrogation of the accused revealed that both the accused persons are married and residing in the area of Khyala and are drug addicts. To meet the daily needs, they started committing snatching & robberies and were earlier arrested in the cases of robbery. One of their associate, namely Niranjan, a known criminal of the area asked them to terrorise Akash Sansi, a satta operator of the area so that they could get extortion money on regular basis.
According to plan, the accused persons equipped with pistol reached the house of Akash Sansi in Om Vihar area, Uttam Nagar in order to threaten him. Akash was present at his house. On this, the accused Pankaj Mehta took out the pistol and initially fired two rounds in the air. In the mean time, the victim closed the door of the house, and then the accused Pankaj Mehta fired at the door aiming at Akash and victim sustained bullet injury. Thereafter, they fled from the spot.     
The accused Pankaj @ Satender @ Bhola is found to be involved in following criminal cases: -

2. e-FIR No. 028659/16 u/s 379/411 IPC PS Crime Branch
3. FIR No. 341/15 u/s 394/397/411/34 IPC PS Punjabi Bagh
4. FIR No. 228//15 u/s 392/397/34 IPC PS Paschim Vihar
The accused Praveen @ Atul was found to be involved in following criminal cases: -

1. FIR No. 338/15 u/s 411/412/34 IPC r/w 25 Arms Act PS Najafgarh
2. FIR No. 72/15 u/s 394/397/34 IPC PS Jaffarpur Kalan.

3. FIR No. 193/15 u/s 379/411/34 IPC PS Tilak Nagar

Two sophisticated pistols alongwith 9 cartridges recovered. A reward of Rs 50,000/- was declared by Delhi Police for his arrest. A team of Special Cell, Northern Range, led by Insp.
