Gang of a woman and man busted

  • They travelled in a car and targeted lone girls on the roadside and requested them for allowing to make a phone call on the pretext of emergency.
  • They operated in the adjoining area of Delhi University and reportedly committed a dozen snatching in the past fortnight.
  • Recovered 10 mobile phones and a car used in commission of crime.

With the arrest of two desperate snatchers including one woman , the staff of P.S Model Town has solved as many as 10 cases of theft/ criminal breach of trust. In the wake of recent snatching incidents, a team of police personnel comprising HC jitender no.564/NW and Ct. Satish No. 1991/NW under the close supervision of Inspector Pradeep Kumar Paliwal SHO Model Town and overall supervision of ACP Model Town Shri Ravinder kumar Tyagi, was constituted. The Modus Operandi of the suspect behind the incidents was analyzed. Informers were activated. Both the accused used to operate in a white colour Honda “Brio” car and take away mobile Phones mostly from the young students. The alleged woman used to target lone woman/girls on the roadside and requested for allowing to make a phone call citing emergency. She along with her accomplice immediately drove away with the phone of victim before the victim realized what had happened. In some cases the alleged persons used to snatch /Robbed off the articles. They used to operate in Model Town, Mukhrjee Nagar, Maurice Nagar , Roop Nagar and surrounding areas. The incidents created panic in the area.
In order to curb the above said incidents, the beat staff was deployed to check white cars.
On 22.10.2016 at about 8 PM HC Jitender No.564/NW and Ct. Satish No. 1991/NW noticed a girl and a boy in a white Honda “Brio” car having no Number plate. Suspecting something amiss, the staff questioned the occupant of the car. During sustained interrogation the duo spill the beans. They confessed to having committed snatching of mobile phones in the area of Delhi University. They were identified as Ms. Sonam (changed name) age 30 years and Neeraj Age 30 years. They were found involved in around 11 cases. As many as 10 mobile phones of different make were recovered from their possession besides the car involved in commission of the crime.
Modus Operandi: They used to operate in a white color Honda “Brio” car after removing the Number plate of the car. They would target lone woman/girls on the roadside and requested them to allow her to use their mobile phone for a call citing emergency. They fled away with the mobile phone before victims could realize what had happened.
Profile of accused persons:
1.Sonam (changed name)
She is a graduate from Delhi University and fluent in speaking English which she used to impress the victims. She is married and reportedly having strained relation with her husband. She has an 8 years old son. She came in contact with the co-accused Neeraj to meet her daily needs.
2. Neeraj Age 30 years.
He is also a graduate from Delhi University. He is married and having strained relations with his wife. He has a five years old daughter.He claims to supply toys and stationery to the shopkeepers. He came in contact with the co-accused Sonam (changed name) and to meet his daily needs they started committing this crime.
Motive of the Crime:  
Sonam (changed name) wanted to take revenge with her husband and for this purpose she planned to hire some bad elements.  For this purpose money was required hence she committed above said crime.

Sagar @ Punter a sharp shooter of Naveen Khati Gang arrested

Two sophisticated pistols alongwith 9 cartridges recovered. A reward of Rs 50,000/- was declared by Delhi Police for his arrest. A team of Special Cell, Northern Range, led by Insp. Sanjay Nagpal, Inspr. Prabhat Kumar & Insp.
