Gang of extortionists busted : 3 accused arrested

Ø  Accused were making extortion calls for Rs. 25 lacs to the complainant.
                    
          The joint team of Special Staff and PS Hauz Khas, South District have arrested three extortionists namely Raghav Chauhan, age 24 years s/o Ratan Singh Chauhan r/o Vilage Nanagla Dan, District Kasganj, UP, Anshul Mishra, age 24 years s/o Anil Mishra r/o Village Ritaul, District Farrukhabad, UP and Astitiva Singh, age 25 years s/o Rajender Singh r/o H. No. 194, Thandi Sadak, District Farrukhabad, UP, who were making extortion calls for Rs. 25 lacs to the complainant.

Brief facts :

On 23.10.16, the complainant Sh. Rahul Aggarwal r/o M-16, South Extension (Part-II), New Delhi visited PS Hauz Khas and filed a complaint alleging therein that he received a call on his mobile wherein the caller introduced himself as Rehman and demanded Rs. 25 lakhs from him and also threatened him of dire consequences, if the money is not paid.  A case vide FIR No. 684/16 u/s 387 IPC PS Hauz Khas was registered and investigation taken up.

Investigation :

Keeping in view the sensitivity of the case, Special Staff, South District was also assigned the task to locate and arrest the culprits involved in crime.  The police team comprising SI Jeet Singh, SI Satendra Khari, SI Rajiv Bamal, SI Arvind Kumar and ASI Vijay Kumar led by Inspr. Hira Lal, I/C Special Staff, South District and Inspr. Satender Sangwan, SHO/Hauz Khas under supervision of Sh. P.S. Chahal, ACP/Ops., South District was constituted. 

During the course of investigation, details of all the employees working under the complainant were collected and verified.  The complainant was taken into confidence and advised to bargain with the caller, if further call is received.  After four days, the complainant settled the deal for 15 lakhs.  At the same time, police team continued its efforts to get clues about the culprits and developed criminal intelligence which revealed that one of his employees namely Raghav Chauhan was involved in the crime.  During interrogation, accused Raghav Chauhan initially tried to mislead the police party but later he broke down and confessed his involvement in the crime. On the instance of the accused Raghav Chauhan, his two accomplices namely Anshul Mishra and Astitva Singh were also arrested and mobile phone used in commission of crime was recovered from their possession.
Interrogation :

Accused Raghav Chauhan disclosed that he along with Anshul Mishra, who used to work in the company of the complainant as a driver and Astitiva Singh conspired to extort money from the complainant as he was in dire need of money. As he was working with the complainant for the last four years, he knew about the profile of complainant. Accused Raghav Chauhan procured a SIM card on fake ID and also bought a mobile phone to make extortion calls.  On 23.10.16, Astitva Singh called the complainant over his mobile phone posing as Rehman and demanded Rs. 25 lakhs.  Accused Raghav Chauhan kept watch at complainant’s home and conveyed the all information to his accomplices. When Raghav Chauhan came to know that complainant is scared due to their extortion call, he asked his accomplices to increase the extortion money. 

Profile of accused persons :

1.   Raghav Chauhan, age 24 years s/o Ratan Singh Chauhan r/o Vilage Nanagla Dan, District Kasganj, UP is graduate.  He was working with the complainant for the last four years and was getting handsome salary.  He fell in bad habits and in order to cater his expenses, he needed quick money and planned to extort his employer.
2.   Anshul Mishra, age 24 years s/o Anil Mishra r/o Village Ritaul, District Farrukhabad, UP has studied upto 12th class. He used to work in the complainant’s company as a driver but presently he was unemployed. He could not get the job and became a drug addict.
3.   Astitiva Singh, age 25 years s/o Rajender Singh r/o Thandi Sadak, District Farrukhabad, UP is commerce graduate and pursuing CS. Since he belongs to the same area, he came in contact with Raghav and Anshul in Farrukhabad and joined them.

Sagar @ Punter a sharp shooter of Naveen Khati Gang arrested
