Alok Kumar Verma inaugurated the School Road Safety Awareness Campaign 2016-17

The Commissioner of Police, Delhi, Shri Alok Kumar Verma inaugurated the School Road Safety Awareness Campaign 2016-17 of Delhi Traffic Police on 6th October 2016 at Dogra Hall Auditorium, IIT Hauz Khas, New Delhi at 0930 hrs.  Special CP/Provision and Logistics, Special CP/Traffic, Spl. CP/Law & Order (South), Spl. CP/Law & Order (North). Joint CP/Traffic and other senior officers of Delhi Police were present. Director IIT/Delhi, Prof. V. Ramgopal Rao also graced the occasion. The programme was attended by representatives from around 400 schools including Principals and teachers (coordinators).
Ms. Garima Bhatnagar, Jt. CP/Traffic, presented an overview of the School Road Safety Awareness Campaign which has been planned by Delhi Traffic Police to be spread over a period of three months from October 2016 to January 2017. The campaign targets the participation of approx. 10 lakh students from over 850 schools in Delhi wherein the students will be made aware of various road safety issues through lectures, interactions with Delhi Traffic Police Road Safety Cell followed by painting, debate and quiz competitions etc.

Commissioner of Police, Delhi highlighted the importance of inculcation of ‘Good Habits’ at a young age.  He said that a child who learns about traffic rules and road discipline would grow up to be a law abiding citizen.  He also said that a habit of obeying traffic rules teaches a person a sense of responsibility, empathy for others and respecting the other person’s rights.  CP/Delhi called upon the principals and teachers to join hands with Delhi Police in its endeavour to ensure the overall safety of the students.  He said that children should be sensitized about their personal safety too and issues pertaining to cyber security.  He called upon the teachers to motivate their students to always share their problems with their elders.
Ms. Nupur Prasad, Addl. CP/South presented an overview of aspects involving child safety such as physical abuse, emotional abuse, neglect and online exploitation and how they could equip themselves against this menace.
Sh. Anyesh Roy, DCP/Cyber Crime presented a thought-provoking presentation on the issues pertaining to cyber crime and how children are vulnerable to inappropriate conduct, content and contact on the cyber space and how they should be sensitized to safeguard themselves from any possible threat while they are working online.
The programme culminated with an interactive session of senior officers of Delhi Police with the school principals and teachers. The campaign will be kick started with sessions of lecture and interaction; different levels of competitions pertaining to road safety topics i.e. Painting competition for Junior, Middle and Secondary group students and Quiz & Debate competition for Middle and Secondary group students.

This initiative of Delhi Police is also supported by Indraprastha Gas Limited, Hero Motocorp, SIAM, Honda Motors & Scooters India and Jubilant foodworks under their CSR programme.

Sagar @ Punter a sharp shooter of Naveen Khati Gang arrested

Two sophisticated pistols alongwith 9 cartridges recovered. A reward of Rs 50,000/- was declared by Delhi Police for his arrest. A team of Special Cell, Northern Range, led by Insp. Sanjay Nagpal, Inspr. Prabhat Kumar & Insp. Pankaj Kumar under the supervision of Shri Pankaj Sood, ACP has arrested sharp shooter of notorious and desperate gangster Naveen @ Khati namely  Sagar @ Punter, alongwith his associate Ravi @ Cheeru. Two pistols alongwith 9 cartridges were recovered from their possession.  A Bullet Motor-Cycle used by gangster has also been seized. A reward of Rs 50,000/- was declared by Delhi Police for his arrest. There is a long history of gang war in Najafgarh and adjoining areas.
