3 accused involved in spate of burglaries in JNU Housing Complex arrested

  • Stolen electronic articles and gold/silver jewelry worth lacs of rupees recovered.
  • 30 cases of burglary / theft worked out.

The police team of PS V.K. North, South District have arrested three burglars Gaurav, age 26 years s/o Rajender Prasad r/o 282, Gali No. 3, Village Karehda, Ghaziabad, UP, Mohit Kumar, age 18 years s/o Sunder Lal r/o RZ-291, Gali No. 4, Palam Colony, Delhi and Karan Yadav, 26 years s/o Bhagwan Singh r/o C-1/175, Madhu Vihar, Dwarka, Delhi who were involved in spate of burglaries in JNU Housing Complex.  With the arrest of accused persons, stolen electronic articles, gold / silver jewelry and house breaking instruments worth lacs of rupees recovered and 30 cases of burglary / theft solved.

Brief facts : In the recent past, the residents of JNU Housing Complex witnessed spate of burglary incidents in which household articles like laptops, mobile phones, I-Pod, Camera, LCD, LED and jewelry articles worth lacs of rupees were stolen.  The modus operandi of the incidents was closely analyzed and it was found that the burglary incidents were committed mainly during day time by breaking the locks of main door.

In order to prevent the incidents of burglary, recovery of stolen property and to arrest the culprits involved in such criminal activities, a police team comprising SI Kuldeep, SI Manish, ASI Jitender, ASI Rupesh, HC Ashok Rana, Ct. Kanwarpal, Ct. Vikas and Ct. Karamveer led by Inspr. Gagan Bhasker, SHO/V.K. North under the supervision of Sh. K.P. Kukrety, ACP/Vasant Vihar was formed.  The police worked relentlessly for days and deployed sources to get clues about the movements of burglars operating in the area.  The concerted efforts bore results and the police team received specific input about the movements of accused persons in Madhu Vihar, Dwarka, Delhi.  Immediately, the police team swung into action and a trap was laid in Madhu Vihar and the trio namely Gaurav, Mohit Kumar and Karan Yadav were arrested.  

Interrogation :

During sustained interrogation, accused persons confessed to have committed various incidents of burglary including in JNU Housing Complex.  At the instance of accused persons, stolen electronic articles, gold / silver jewelry and house breaking instruments worth lacs of rupees recovered and 30 cases of burglary / theft solved.  Further investigation is on and the role of their another associate namely Vikram Munna s/o Vicky Munna r/o 28, Dakshinapuram, JNU, Delhi is being probed.  His father is working as a mess helper in Koena Hostel, JNU.

  10. 1 LCD (make Loyd),
  11. 1 motor cycle,
  12. 1 Home Theatre (make Panasonic)
  13. 5 keys of cars.
  14. 1 dummy pistol
  15. 1 speaker (make Panasonic)
  16. House breaking instruments (including electric cutter, latch and rods).
  17. 7 golden sets
  18. 4 golden necklaces
  19. 2 golden chains
  20. 6 golden bangles
  21. 8 pairs ear rings
  22. 8 silver pearls necklaces
  23. 4 pairs karas
