The accused were arrested in a late night operation from a hotel in Central Delhi. One revolver, 11 live cartridges, one swift car and other incriminating material has been recovered from their possession.
INCIDENT:-
On 28/03/2017, one Haryana based businessman gave a complaint in Crime Branch alleging that he is engaged in road construction business and is known to one Manjeet Grewal R/o Meham, Haryana.  Since last few days, Manjeet Grewal was contacting him for helping him in getting a road tender in National Highway Authority of India (NHAI). Relying on the promises of Manjeet Grewal, complainant along with his partner came to Delhi, and met Manjeet Grewal and his associate Vijay.  Accused persons deceitfully, induced the victims into believing that they had connections with the sanctioning authority of NHAI. Complainant, along with his partner were brought in a hotel by Manjeet Grewal and his associate Vijay on the pretext of meeting with an officer of NHAI.  As the unsuspected victims entered the hotel room, they were held captive at gun point by Manjeet and his associate Vijay. They demanded Rs 2 Crore ransom and threatened the businessman in case they fail to arrange the ransom.  Thinking judiciously, complainant offered the accused that if they release him, he could bring the required ransom.  Thus, he was released with the threat that if he does anything untoward, his partner would be killed. Complainant tried hard to manage the ransom, but could not.  It was then, that he contacted the police.  On his complaint, a case under appropriate sections of law was registered at PS-Crime Branch.
INVESTIGATION AND OPERATION:-
Sensing the gravity of the case and to rescue the businessman, a team of ISC Crime Branch, comprising of Insp. Sunil Kumar, SI Neeraj Kumar, ASIs Rakesh Kumar, Vaseek Ahmed, Vijay Pratap, Surender, VikramDutt, HCs Ieed Mohammad, Sunil Pandey and Ct. Sikander led by Sh. Sanjay Sehrawat, ACP/ISC under the supervision of the undersigned was constituted and rescue operation was carried out and after a brief scuffle, two abductors whose name and address were later revealed as Manjeet Singh Grewal and Vijay Kumar (as above) were overpowered from a hotel in Central Delhi and a businessman who was held captive in their room was rescued.  They were subjected to intensive interrogation and it was revealed that they both were engaged in property business since the  last 15-20 yrs.  But, since last 4-5 yrs, they had suffered a huge loss in business and were running under huge debt. They were fond of lavish lifestyle, but due to money crisis, they were facing acute problems in fulfilling their day to day needs. To overcome their financial restraints, they planned to abduct the complainant.  They were very well aware about the sound financial position of the complainant and were sure that the complainant would easily shell out the ransom amount without making any complaint to legal authorities.  The recovered weapon i.e Revolver is made in ordinance factory, Kanpur and has been issued in the name of one Sunil (brother in law of Manjeet Singh Grewal).  Further investigation with regard to the possession of recovered weapon is being carried out.
