International Women’s Week Celebration@ PFWS

Delhi Police Families Welfare Society-PFWS in its endeavour to reach out to its families with a new message and awareness in an innovative way commenced with an idea of celebrating IWW (International Women’s Week) -for police families of 155 colonies. In this regard, on 8thMarch 2017, PFWS started its “celebrating women” efforts by introducing concept of “Financial literacy” along with the need of right banking habits in simple and easy way of storytelling and case study. HDFC team did a good job in creating awareness and making them realize their role in the financial management of family.
Mrs. Suchana Patnaik, the new PFWS President stated that financial independence is the key to women empowerment. She was not only highly impressed with the enthusiasm with which women came forward in participating in various events of women’s week celebration but of she also whole hearted supported the efforts team leaders, PFWS officials, welfare staff in organising the whole event.
She along with the Vice President, Dr. Sushi Singh, came up with a gift for families by organising a free visit for all families of Delhi Police personnel to Mughal Garden, Museum and innovative festival of Rastrapati Bhawan on 10th March, 2017 which shall continue year after year. It truly provided the families with an opportunity of different districts to meet and enjoy together for the first time.
33 buses facilitated by PFWS carrying 1600 families from various colonies were greeted by President, Mrs. Suchana Patnaik, Vice President, Dr. Sushi Singh along with team leaders, and an NGO, United Smile Foundation who provide some tips of building self-esteem through a street play. They were then taken to museum, Mughal Garden, followed by visit to an exhibition of festival of innovation.
The women and children were thankful from core of their hearts and they also demanded from President and Vice President to start with “Delhi Darshan” opportunity, which was promptly accepted by duo.
To see 1600 police families together with caps, badges and wrist bands, clicking pictures, enjoying together and feeling proud to be part of Delhi Police was truly a momentous occasion. PFWS remains determined to continue facilitating education, awareness and skills to support families across the city in best possible ways with the support of Delhi Police and likeminded right partners / collaborators.
