FUGITIVE CRIMINAL WANTED IN 4 CASES OF CONTAINER THEFTS OF PS PUL PRAHLADPUR ARRESTED

  • ACCUSED DISCLOSED HIS INVOLVEMENT IN THREE MORE INCIDENTS OF THEFTS OF GOODS FROM CONTAINERS BEING EXPORTED ABROAD.
  • TOTAL 416 CARTONS CONTAINING 1,439 CEILING FANS OF DIFFERENT COMPANIES AND TOTAL 52 CARTONS CONTAINING ELECTRIC CUTOUTS/CHANGERS RECOVERED FROM GODOWN OF ACCUSED PERSONS IN SURAJPUR INDUSTRIAL AREA, GREATER NOIDA.
  • THE ACCUSED PERSONS USED TO STEAL GOODS FROM CONTAINERS BEING EXPORTED ABROAD AND USED TO REPLACE GOODS WITH SAND BAGS.
INTRODUCTION: -
Crime Branch has arrested a fugitive criminal Manoj Kumar (30 yrs) s/o Shankar Prasad r/o Village Suraj Garha, District Lakhi Sarai, Bihar, presently residing in Village Jasola, Delhi, who was wanted in 4 container theft cases of PS Pul Prahladpur, Delhi. 416 cartons containing 1,439 ceiling fans of different companies and 52 cartons containing electric cutouts/changers have been recovered at the instance of the accused from a godown situated in Surajpur Industrial Area, Greater Noida, which were stolen by the accused Manoj Kumar alongwith his associates from different containers being exported to African countries. Some Ferrolock 'Bolt-Seals' and sandbags have also been recovered from the premises.
INFORMATION, TEAM & OPERATION: -
On 03.03.2017, ASI Santraj Singh posted in SWR, Crime Branch received a secret information that a fugitive criminal Manoj Kumar, who was wanted in several cases of container thefts from area of ICD Tuglaqabad, would come under Metro Line, Jasola Village at about 3 pm. This information was further developed and a team of Crime Branch led by ACP Jasbir Singh, consisting of Insp. Attar Singh, ASIs Santraj Singh, Kartar Singh, Suresh Kumar, Vinod Kumar, HCs Rajeev Sahrawat, Ajeet Singh, Ramkumar, Cts Om Prakash, Sandeep Nara and Sanjiv Rathi was constituted to nab the criminal under the close supervision of DCP Bhisham Singh and under overall guidance of Addl. CP KK Vyas. Accordingly, the team laid a trap near the expected place of his arrival and the accused Manoj Kumar was successfully apprehended by the team. On interrogation, the accused confessed his involvement in the crime and subsequently, he was arrested under appropriate sections of law.
The accused Manoj Kumar further disclosed that presently, he is working as a Manager with one Vinod Sharma r/o Meethapur and Mobin Khan r/o Jamia Nagar, who are running a gang of container thieves in connivance with drivers of the containers in different ICDs situated in Tuglaqabad, Faridabad, Dadri, Greater Noida and has taken a godown on lease in Surajpur Industrial Area, Greater Noida. The accused further revealed that hundreds of cartons & packages were stored in their above godown which were stolen by them from the containers being exported abroad. At his instance, the said godown was raided and total 468 cartons containing ceiling fans, electric cutouts and changers were recovered from the premises and the same were taken in police possession.       
INTERROGATION & DISCLOSURE: -
Interrogation of the accused revealed that he basically belongs to Village Suraj Garha, District Lakhi Sarai, Bihar and came to Delhi in 2007 in search of livelihood and started residing in Pul Prahladpur, where he started working as a labourer in ICD, Tuglaqabad. During this period, he came in contact with some container thieves active in the area. On interrogation, he disclosed his involvement in following four cases of container thefts of PS Pul Prahladpur in which huge quantity of consignments were stolen by him alongwith his associates which were being exported abroad via ICD, Tuglaqabad: -
1. Case FIR No.81/15, dated 18.02.2015, u/s 406 IPC PS Pul Prahladpur, Delhi.
2. Case FIR No.82/15, dated 02.03.2015, u/s 406 IPC PS Pul Prahladpur, Delhi.
3. Case FIR No.86/15, dated 06.03.2015, u/s 379/473/488/34 IPC PS Pul Prahladpur, Delhi.
4. Case FIR No.472/14, dated 07.12.2014, u/s 406 IPC PS Pul Prahladpur, Delhi.
After committing above thefts, he absconded to his native village in Bihar and came back to Delhi about 3 months ago and started working as Manager with Vinod Sharma r/o Meethapur and Mobin Khan r/o Jamia Nagar.   
MODUS OPERANDI: -
The accused persons in connivance with drivers of containers at different ICDs used to unload a part of goods being exported abroad at their godowns taken on lease in different areas of Greater Noida and Manesar etc. before depositing in ICDs situated at Faridabad, Tuglaqabad and Dadri, Greater Noida. They used to seal the containers again after replacing goods by sand bags. The sealed containers were then shipped to its destinations, which took around 2-3 months to reach and only then the fact of theft came to notice.
RECOVERY: -
  1. Total 416 cartons containing 1,439 ceiling fans of different companies
  2. Total 52 cartons containing electric cutouts/changers
  3. Ferrolock 'Bolt-Seals' of containers and sandbags

Concerned authorities have been informed regarding arrest of the accused. Efforts are being made to nab absconding criminals Vinod Sharma and Mobin Khan.
