Sensational case of Hit & Run worked out

  • One Mercedes Benz Car involved in case recovered

A team of Crime Branch, Delhi has succeeded in solving a sensational hit and run case of Outer District of Delhi and has apprehended one youth namely Savneet Singh @ Aman (Age- 27 yrs) S/o Sh. Dhanvinder Singh R/o A-222, Meera Bagh, Delhi involved in crime.  
Incident:-
On 05/03/2017, at about 10:30 PM, one teenage youth on a Honda Activa scooter was smashed by high speed Mercedez Benz Car in the area of Paschim Vihar, Delhi.  After hitting the scooter, the driver along with Mercedez Benz car fled away from the spot leaving behind the bleeding victim, who succumbed to injuries. The victim was a teenage student, who has just passed class 11th from a prominent school of Delhi. On the statement of an eye witness, a case FIR No. 109/17 U/s 279/304A IPC was registered at PS-Mianwali, Delhi. Preliminary investigations revealed that the erring Mercedes Benz driver was on high speed and besides the driver, one occupant was also present in the car.

The incident was totally blind except with the hint that the Car involved in smashing the victim was Mercedez Benz.  There was a lot of public outcry regarding the incident in the locality, as the victim was very social and only son in the family.  Several teams were formed to trace the erring driver and Mercedez Benz car, but despite painstaking efforts, no clues could be collected. Keeping in view, the sensitivity of the matter, Crime Branch was also roped in. On 07/03/2017, specific information was received at ISC, Crime Branch, Chanakyapuri, Delhi that the driver of the Mercedes Car, who had hit one youth in the area of Paschim Vihar, Delhi would come near Vishal Cineplex, Rajouri Garden to meet one of his associate.  Acting on the information, a team comprising of Insp. Sunil Kumar, SIs Neeraj Kumar, Vijay Samaria, ASIs Vijay Pratap, Vikal, HCs Pawan, Ashok,Ct. Paramjeet led by ACP Sh. Sanjay Sehrawat, ACP/SER under the supervision of Sh. Madhur Verma was constituted.  A trap was laid near Vishal Cineplex, Rajouri Garden and at about 9 PM, one youth who was later identified as Savneet Singh was apprehended.  During preliminary interrogation, he was reluctant to divulge the facts, but after sustained interrogation, he admitted that on the fateful day, he along with his cousin Hashmeet Singh was going towards their house.  He was driving his Mercedez Benz car and his cousin was accompanying him.  They were in party mood and were enjoying the moments with the thrill of speed and could not detect the scooter coming from the other side and smashed in the Scooter.  After the accident, he got panicked and ran away from the spot.  At his instance, one Mercedez Benz car involved in the accident has been recovered. Local police has been informed accordingly.

Savneet Singh is a permanent resident of A-222, Meera Bagh, Delhi.  He has done B.com through Correspondence from Delhi University.  He is unmarried.  His father runs a furniture shop at Jail Road, Tilak Nagar, Delhi. He assists his father in the family business.

Two sophisticated pistols alongwith 9 cartridges recovered. A reward of Rs 50,000/- was declared by Delhi Police for his arrest. A team of Special Cell, Northern Range, led by Insp.
