ATM CARD THIEF NABBED

  • ACCUSED A HABITUAL OFFENDER WHO BEFRIENDS WITH VICTIM AND THEN SWEEPS HIS ACCOUNT.
  • RAIDS CONTINUING TO APPREHEND OTHER ABSCONDING ACCUSED.

The staff of PS New Delhi Railway Station has worked out an ATM theft case vide case FIR No.  117/17 dt 16.02.17 u/s 379 IPC PS NDRS by arresting a  shrewd thief namely Azad @ Javed @ Shahid s/o Gulam Hussain R/o Jhuggi C-577, JJ Colony, Bawana, Delhi Age-23 yrs , who use to befriend with his victim, earn his confidence and then steal his ATM card and sweep his account.  Arrested person is a habitual offender and previously involved in several cases.  The details are as below:-
    1. Case FIR No. 44/2014 u/s 25 Arms Act PS Kamla Market Central Distt.
    2. Case FIR No. 08/2012 u/s 379 IPC PS Railway Main Delhi.
    3. Case FIR No. 816/2016 u/s 379/411 IPC &147 IR Act PS NDRS.
    4. Case FIR No. 89/2017 u/s-379/411 IPC PS NDRS.

INFORMATION, TEAM & OPERATION:-

On 12.03.2017 a complainant Raviranjan Kumar s/o Sh. Chhatri Yadav r/o Distt Aurangabad, Bihar stated that on 12.02.17 he reached NDRS from Chandigarh to go to his native village. Two persons met him and told that they were also going to Bihar. In this way they befriended him and made gossips.  During this time the complainant felt the need of some money so he went to ATM machine at New Delhi Railway Station for withdrawing the money.  Those two persons also followed him and watched him closely.  When the complainant was withdrawing his money they noticed his ATM password.  Thereafter finding an opportunity both of them took away his (complainant’s) bag containing ATM card, mobile phone and Rs. 1400/-. Later on, the complainant found that an amount of Rs. 2 lakhs was swept away from his account through his stolen ATM card. On the complaint of Raviranjan Kumar a case vide FIR No.  235/17 dt 24.03.17 u/s 379/411 IPC was registered at  PS NDRS and investigation taken up by the IO HC Chanderbhan No. 805/RM. During investigation, HC Chanderbhan obtained the CCTV footage of platforms, ATM machine and also obtained the bank account statement of the victim. IO sensitized the informers and also analyzed the police records, dossiers etc.  The CCTV footage of the ATM from where the accused had withdrawn money  was also obtained from The Hotel Nest Bank. After sustained efforts secret informer informed that in similar type of theft case one person was arrested in case FIR No. 89/17 u/s 379/411 IPC PS Paharganj. CCTV footage was matched with the details of that arrested person in PS Paharganj.  His name revealed as Azad @ Javed @ Shahid s/o Gulam Hussain R/o Jhuggi C-577, JJ Colony, Bawana, Delhi. On production warrant accused Azad was arrested and on interrogation he disclosed that he along with his friend Kallu had committed this offence. Regarding ATM card he disclosed that he had thrown ATM card in the garbage and sold the SIM of stolen mobile phone to an unknown person for Rs. 5000/-. Other accused namely Kallu is still absconding. Further raids are continuing to arrest him.  Investigation is in progress.
