WOMAN THIEF ARRESTED WITH STOLEN JEWELLERY WORTH RS. 8 LAKHS FROM NEW DELHI RAILWAY STATION

  • ARREST WITH RECOVERY OF ALL JEWELLERY MADE WITHIN 8 HOURS OF COMMISSION OF THE OFFENCE.
  • ARRESTED WOMAN PREVIOUSLY INVOLVED IN TWO CASES OF THEFT AND USE TO CARRY A CHILD WITH HER TO AVOID SUSPICION.

With the arrest of a woman thief the staff of PS New Delhi Railway Station, worked out a case of theft of jewellery worth Rs. 8 lakhs, within 8 hours of commission of offence at New Delhi Railway Station. One Woman namely  Sarita, aged 25 yrs has been arrested.

INFORMATION, TEAM & OPERATION:-
On 2.9.2016, one Mrs Adhilakshmi Lakshmanan w/o Dr. V. Lakshmanan r/o Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, came to police station New Delhi Railway Station and  stated that she along with her husband had travelled from Bareilly, UP to New Delhi Railway Station by Kashi Vishwanath Express.  After de-boarding at New Delhi Railway Station at Platform No. 6, both of them went with their luggage to waiting hall.  When she checked her purse in the waiting hall she found that the chain of the purse was open and the small purse within it was not there.  This small purse was containing her jewellery worth Rs. 8 lakhs consisting of (i) One gold chain with Mangalsutra (ii) 4 gold kare (heavy bangles) (iii) one motiwala gold chain (iv) 1 gold ring (v) 1 pair diamond ear tops (vi) 5 pairs of gold ear tops (vii) 2 pearl mala (viii) 1 gold chain with black pearl (ix) one wrist watch.  On her statement a case FIR No. 1016/2016 dt. 2.9.16 u/s-279 IPC was registered at PS New Delhi Railway Station and investigation was taken up.
A team constituting of the Inspr. Akash Rawat SHO/PS New Delhi Railway Station, SI Ashok Kumar, HC Chanderpal, Ct. Bagicha Singh, L/Ct. Sonu and other staff under the supervision of Sh. Gyan Singh, ACP/Railways (ND) and overall supervision of the undersigned was formed immediately.  All the CCTV cameras installed at New Delhi Railway Station were watched.  After zeroing in on the suspected person and searching the police record the search for the culprit was made on full swing.  Raids were conducted at several places and finally a Woman was apprehended from Ajmeri Gate side with a four month old baby.  Her name was revealed as Sarita, aged 25 yrs.  Initially she denied of having knowledge regarding anything about this matter but after sustained interrogation and showing the clipping of CCTV camera she broke down and admitted her crime.  Thereafter she got recovered all the jewellery stolen by her.  She was arrested in this case.  During interrogation it was revealed that she had been previously involved in two criminal cases of theft i.e., (i) Case FIR No. 750/2015 u/s 379/411 IPC PS New Delhi Railway Station, and (ii) Case FIR No. 185/2016 u/s 379/411 IPC PS New Delhi Railway Station.

The accused on further interrogation stated that her husband is a drunkard and does not take care of the family.  Due to the poor family conditions she started committing petty theft at railway stations as there are less chances of being caught due to floating crowd.  She uses to carry her four month old child with her so that no one including police suspects her.  On 2.9.16 also, she came to New Delhi Railway Station for committing the theft and after committing the same she was going to dispose the stolen articles but was caught by police.
