CONMAN ARRESTED FOR DUPING INNOCENT BOYS OF LACS OF RUPEES ON THE PRETEXT OF GETTING JOB IN HIS FAKE COMPANY

‘SECURE PLUS’ LOCATED IN OKHLA, DELHI

With the arrest of a desperate cheat namely Rohit Kumar Verma, aged 35 years s/o Ishwar Singh r/o Vill. Loomb, PS Chhaproli, Distt. Baghpat, UP, the staff of Police Station Okhla, South-East District, Delhi has busted a racket involved in duping people on the pretext of providing job to them in his fake company after completing ‘CCSA’ course from another fake Institute ‘CP NET’ located at South Ext. Part-II, New Delhi.  Two laptops, two mobiles phones and some documents used in this cheating have been recovered.

INCIDENT & TEAM

On 13.07.16, six boys (residents of different parts of Delhi) gave a written complaint at PS Okhla alleging therein that in the month of January 2016, they were contacted by a girl on phone and were asked to come for interview for the post of ‘Network & Security Engineer’ in a company namely ‘Secure Plus’ located at Plot No. 261, Okhla Industrial Estate Phase-III, Delhi. They appeared for interview in the company on the schedule date where they were interviewed by one Rohit Kumar Verma, the owner of the company. After the interview, they were given an offer letter for the said post with approx salary of Rs. 23,000/-. However, they were told that their profile is incomplete since they have to undergo a course namely ‘CCSA’ (CHECKPOINT CERTIFICATE SECURITY ADMINISTRATION) which is available with only a very few institutes in India. They were advised to do this course from the institute namely ‘CP NET’ situated at D-10, 2nd Floor, Awffis Building, South Ext. Part-II, New Delhi who is offering this course at a very cheap rates as compared to other institutes.

Subsequently, they all approached the institute where a lady namely Ayushi was present. They deposited the required fee of Rs. 23000/- each for this course and they were given one week online training by one Umesh. After completion of training, they were issued a Certificate from the institute. Thereafter, they went to the office of Rohit Verma for joining but they were informed that the project of the company has been delayed and they will have to wait for some time. After regular persuasion by the complainants, in the month of May 2016, they were told to go to Pune for joining where one project of the company is going on. One day before schedule date of their departure to Pune, they received a call on their phone and they were offered a similar job at Gurgaon for Rs. 25,000/- but it was later on found to be fake. However, two of the complainants went to Pune but no such project was found at the given address.

After returning back to Delhi, they checked the genuineness of the certificate which was also found to be fake. When they went to the office of the company, nobody was found there and Caretaker of the building informed that above Rohit has closed his office. Since, a detailed enquiry was required on this complaint, a team comprising SI P.K. Jha I/C PP Okhla, PSI Imran Khan HC Sunil Kumar and Ct. Dharambir was formed under the supervision of Inspr. Atul Kumar Verma SHO/Okhla.  

ENQUIRY AND OPERATION

The enquiry about whereabouts of alleged Rohit Verma was conducted from the nearby areas but nobody was aware about it. The institute where training was given to the complainants was also found closed. The contact number was also found switched off. Meanwhile, one of the complainants gave a contact number of company’s employee Vipin Gaur. On contacting Vipin, he disclosed that he was also allured in similar manner by Rohit Verma but he too was not given any salary. He too was not aware about the whereabouts of Rohit Verma. However, he gave the contact number of trainer Umesh whose actual name was Sonu.

Further, Sonu was contacted by the police team who disclosed that he also belongs to the native place of Rohit Verma i.e. Vill. Loomb, Distt. Baghpat, UP. In the month of February 2016, he met Rohit Verma for getting job who offered him a job of trainer in the office of his friend. He was also warned not to interact with any student and to give training in the name of Umesh. He gave training of CCSA course to many students but after completion of training, he was not given his salary and after sometime, Rohit Verma got his mobile phone switched off. However, he was still in contact with Rohit Verma through e-mail for requesting about his salary. The police team remained in contact with Sonu and after about two months, Sonu got a call from Rohit Verma who told that he was starting a new project at Barakhamba Road, Connaught Place for which he required his services as trainer. Subsequently, Rohit Verma also gave him the name & contact numbers of eight students for giving online training. Sonu disclosed this information to the police team. The team contacted one of the students and got the address of the office of Rohit Verma and it was revealed that he was running an office in the name of ‘RENK IT’ at Vatika Business Centre, New Delhi Railways Metro Station.

On 05.09.16, the police team laid a trap around his office and after getting confirmation about his presence, he was apprehended from his office.
