INTER-STATE HIGH PROFILE AUTO LIFTER ARRESTED

  • ACCUSED IS INVOLVED IN MORE THAN TWENTY CASES OF THEFT OF HIGH END USER CARS I.E. MERCEDES, AUDI, FORTUNER ETC., ROBBERY AND HURT.
  • ACCUSED USED TO TARGET FIVE STAR HOTELS AND CAR WORKSHOPS TO STEAL HIGH END USER CARS.
  • ACCUSED HAS DONE MBA (MARKETING) AND IS WELL CONVERSANT WITH ENGLISH LANGUAGE.
  • ONE AUDI Q7 CAR STOLEN FROM HOTEL-HOLIDAY INN, IGI AIRPORT RECOVERED FROM HIS POSSESSION.
  • ACCUSED REMAINED IN JAILS OF MADHYA PRADESH, MAHARASHTRA AND RAJASTHAN.
Crime Branch has apprehended one high profile auto-lifter Satendra Singh Shekhawat @ Sanjay (35 yrs) s/o Inder Singh Shekhawat R/o D-89, Satya Nagar, Jhotwara, Jaipur, Rajasthan involved in theft of one Audi car from Holiday Inn Hotel, near IGI Airport. With his arrest 8 cases of MV Theft involving luxurious cars i.e Mercedes, Fortuner, Audi etc. have been worked out. One Audi Q7 stolen from hotel Holiday Inn, IGI Airport has been recovered from his possession.
INCIDENT, INFORMATION & INTERROGATION:-
On 26/08/2016, one Arjun Garg went to Holiday Inn Hotel, Aerocity, near IGI Airport for dinner and handed over his car to the valet parking attendant.  When he came out of the hotel after dinner, he was surprised to find out that the key of his car was missing from the valet parking desk and someone had taken away his Audi Q7 car.  On checking CCTV footage, one person was seen talking on the mobile phone near the valet parking desk and taking away the key of the car from there.  On the complaint of Arjun Garg, a case FIR No. 312/16 dated 27/08/2016 u/s 379 IPC was registered at PS IGI Airport, Delhi.
During investigation, it was revealed that there had been several cases of theft of high end/luxurious cars with the same modus operandi in several metro cities including Gurgaon, Pune and Mumbai.  Keeping in view the unique modus operandi, a dedicated team of ISC, Crime Branch was roped in to apprehend the criminals behind the crime.
SI Vijay Samaria and Ct. Raj Kumar of ISC, Crime Branch developed certain leads and scrutinized several CCTV footage of 5 Star Hotels and Toll Plazas on Highways and after strenuous efforts zeroed down on one Satendra Singh Shekhawat R/o Jaipur, Rajasthan.  
On 12/09/2016, a specific information was received that Satendra Singh Shekhawat would come near Hyaat Regency Hotel to commit crime. Accordingly, a team of officers led by ACP Sanjay Sehrawat, consisting of Insp. Sunil Kumar, SIs Vijay Samaria, Neeraj Kumar, HC Niranjan, Cts Gopal Krishan, Raj Kumar, Paramjeet, Arvind Meena and Surender was constituted under the supervision of DCP Bhisham Singh and under overall supervision of Addl.CP K.K Vyas to nab him. A trap was laid and at the instance of informer, one Audi car with Maharashtra registration number was intercepted and the driver, who was later identified as Satendra Singh Shekhawat @ Sanjay, was apprehended.
On verification, the recovered car Audi Q7 was found to be stolen from Holiday Inn hotel in respect of which, a case FIR No. 312/16 U/s 379 IPC was registered at PS IGI Airport. He was arrested under appropriate sections of law. He was subjected to intensive interrogation and it was revealed that he was a known interstate criminal and had earlier been arrested by the police of Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and Rajasthan in several cases of theft, robbery and assault. In February, 2016 he came out from Jodhpur jail and again started stealing high end vehicles.
MODUS OPERANDI:-
He had innovated an ingenious through simple plan of stealing high end vehicles. Such was the simplicity of his modus operandi that nobody could suspect him to be a thief.  He would come very nicely dressed as one could imagine and target valet areas of five star hotels.  Once he acclimated himself of the surroundings, he would approach the keys stand unnoticed.  For those managing the valet parking area, he would seem like an ordinary businessman talking on his mobile phone.  He would wait for an opportune moment and as soon he got one, he would just remove one key from the key stand and would nonchalantly drive off with his catch of high end cars. It was a simple yet brilliant plan until Crime Branch took the matter into their hands.

During interrogation, he has revealed that he disposed off the stolen vehicles to his trustworthy receivers who would in turn use these vehicles to transport narcotic substances from Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh to their desired destinations as police or other law agencies seldom check these high end vehicles.
