TEAM, INVESTIGATION AND ARREST:
The team of Anti Robbery Cell, South West District was also assigned the task to develop information against the active thieves belonging to “Tyre puncture” gang. The team had done excellent work in past to nab the criminals using this modus operandi.  The team collected CCTV footage of the scene of crime and developed its sources in Madangir and Inderpuri area where such type of gangs stay.  After a lot of sincere efforts the team zeroed down the criminals involved in the crime and got some specific inputs about their movements.
On 11/06/17, on receipt of secret information about the movements of Mukesh @ Naveen and his associate, a team of ARC/SWD led by SI Arvind Kumar and consisting of ASIs Mukesh, Rajesh, Mahender, Rajender, HCs Umesh, Braj Lal, Manoj, Constables Jagdish and Akash under the supervision of Sh. During sustained interrogation they disclosed that they had stolen one Katta (Bag) containing cash from a fortuner car near Shamshan Ghat, Punjabi Ghat, which was later found to be connected with case E-FIR No. SW-PB-000310/17 P.S Punjabi Bagh.

INTERROGATION:-
During interrogation, it was revealed that both the accused arrested are desperate members of Puncture gang and operates all over India.  On the day of incident the duo was coming from Meerut after committing several unsuccessful attempts of bag liftings in which they found documents and a few other articles and no cash.  They were frustrated and were way back to their home in Madangir.  When they reached at Punjabi Bagh they found that a Fortuner car was parked roadside and the occupant waiting for someone.  They immediately used “Sua” and punctured the tyre and robbed the driver of Rs. 22.50 lacs cash.  The businessmen brothers were chatting at a distance and did not notice any movement near the car.  Later they came to know when driver followed one of the robbers. Mukesh has been involved in similar types of incidents in past.  A few months back he was arrested in 15 lacs bag lifting case in PS Inderpuri area and also arrested in several other cases of bag lifting from cars in Okhla area.  Jagdish, the other robbers had also been involved in incident of bag lifting from cars in past.  He was once apprehended when caught in Lodhi Colony.
The gang is very notorious and mainly targetting satellite town for the last several months as they had been nabbed in Delhi in cases in past and identified.  They would commit crime in Meerut, Sonepat, Gaziabad, NOIDA, Faridabad and Gurugram etc. and come back to Delhi in the evening. As per their modus operandi if they do not find anything worthwhile in bag and document is found they would leave the bag roadside.

MODUS OPERADI :-
The accused persons would firstly identify the target car carrying one or more bags or bags hidden under the seats and then would follow it on motorcycle. When the car takes its halt at red light one of the accused persons would puncture one of the tyres of target vehicle with the help of sua (ice cutter). Then they would follow the car till the time car is halted due to deflated tyre at roadside.  When the driver and co passengers of the car busy in changing the Tyre they would pick up the bags from the car. With the money in bag they would indulge in purchase of drugs for their own consumption and play satta with hefty amount on daily basis.  They would also purchase fast moving motor bike with the stolen/robbed cash and also sometimes four wheelers so that the whole gang can move to far flung area.  They can easily identify the wealthy target and car in which some valuable is kept. Red light points are their preferred spot where they can easily look for bag kept inside the car and puncture the target car with Sua.
In this case Of 22.50 lacs cash they found, they consumed cash around Rs. 4 lacs in purchasing smack, drinks and in playing satta and gambling.  They also visited Shimla and other hill station and consumed the money in lodging and travelling.  The rest of the money which they had kept secretly at their hideouts i.e. 18.50 lacs have been recovered at their instance.  The motor cycle i.e. Grey color Appache which was used in crime has since been sold to show room in Rs. 70,000/- immediately after the incident they committed so that they are not linked with the motor cycle by the police.
