Alert staff deployed on integrated picket checking caught bootlegger

  • 42 cartons of illicit liquor and Maruti Swift car used in crime seized.

With the arrest of one bootlegger namely Suresh Sharma, age 30 years S/o Baliram Sharma R/o Vandna Enclave, Khoda Colony, Ghaziabad, UP, native of Village Sikroli, District Bharatpur Rajasthan, the police team of PS Defence Colony, South District has seized 42 cartons of illicit liquor and Maruti Swift car used in crime.  
Incident:

On 12/06/17 at about 7:15 pm, during integrated picket checking at E-2, Ring Road, Defence Colony, the picket staff stopped one Maruti Swift Car having tinted glass for checking.  The driver was identified as Suresh Sharma S/o Baliram Sharma R/o Vandna Enclave, Khoda Colony, Ghaziabad, UP.  On search, 42 cartons (containing 2016 quarters) of illicit liquor ‘for sale in Haryana only’ were recovered.  A case vide FIR No 103/2017 u/s 33/58 Delhi Excise Act dated 12/6/17 PS Defence Colony was registered and investigation taken up.  

Investigation:

During interrogation, accused Suresh Sharma disclosed that he had purchased the illicit liquor from Sector 40, Gurgaon and was transporting the same to Khora Colony, Ghaziabad, UP for distribution in nearby cluster areas.  He further disclosed to have indulged in bootlegging for the last 3/4 years and earns around Rs. 50,000/- to 60,000/- in a month.  He also purchased a Swift Car in December, 2016 for Rs. 2,18,000/-, rest Rs. 4,10,000/- was got financed and was paying monthly installment of Rs. 15,300/- from the booty earned after sale of illicit liquor.  He is previously involved in case FIR No. 43/2015 dated 20/01/15 u/s 33 Delhi Excise Act, PS Geeta Colony.  

Recovery:

  1. 42 cartons of illicit liquor.
  2. Maruti Swift used in commission of crime.

Two sophisticated pistols alongwith 9 cartridges recovered. A reward of Rs 50,000/- was declared by Delhi Police for his arrest. A team of Special Cell, Northern Range, led by Insp.
