Rare and antique Idol recovered in record time

In a swift and slick operation,Crime branch has recovered a rare centuries old Idol of the TertonPemaLingpa, stolen from the head Cheepa( Head Lama ) house in Tawang District of Arunachal Pradesh. The thief and his associate have been taken into police custody. The Idol of the TertonPemaLingpais believed to be of 12 th century AD .
INCIDENT: - On the intervening night of 31/05/17 and 01/06/17, religious Idol of TertonPemaLingpawas stolen from the house of head Cheepa of Sangyelinggompain Tawang District of Arunachal Pradesh.The Idol had a high religious faith in Arunachal Pradesh. Due to this incident, major religious – social unrest was brewing up in the state. A case FIR No 11/17 u/s 457/380 IPC was registered in PS Tawang, Arunachal Pradesh and all out efforts were being made by Arunachal Pradesh police.
INFORMATION:-
On 04/06/2017, information wasreceivedin ISC, Crime Branch that an ancient idol having high religious and spiritual value has been stolen from Tawang district of Arunachal Pradesh and the racketeers involved in the theft are trying to sell the same in grey market in the area of Majnukatila, Delhi and thereafter the idol would be smuggled to Tibet for monitory gain. Keeping in view the sensitivity of the matter Crime Branch swung into action .Complainant was contacted and further details were sought from him. Manual sources were deployed to trace the culprits behind the crime.

On 05/06/17, specific information was received that a couple involved in the theft of idol would come near GurudwaraMajnookatila at around 8 Am for selling the stolen Idol to a prospective buyer.  Immediately a team led by ACP Sh. Sanjay Sehrawat comprising of Insp. Sunil Kumar, SI RadheyShyam, ASIs Vijay Pratap,  VikramDutt, Surender pal, RakeshRawat, HCs Ashok, Cts Rahul,Shubhash and W/Ct Rubbywas constituted under the supervision of undersignedand a trap was laid near MajnuKaTilla. Police team was deployed in disguise near GurudwaraMajnookatila. At 10.40 AM a couple coming from MajnuKaTilla side ,whose name and addresses later revealed as  NgawangTsundue  (Age 29 Year)  S/o TseringDhondup R/o present address  Men TseKhang, GangchenKyishong, PO Dharamsala, Kangra, Himachal Pradesh and his female associate MS LobsangGakey Sherpa (Age 26 Year)  D/o Lt ShThontup R/o Village Nisar, District Sahalun, Tibet present address Punjabi Basti, Sabji Bazar, MajnuKaTilla, Delhi were apprehended at the instance of informer.  From the search of the bag of NgawangTsundue one gold color Idol which was identified byson of head Cheepa as the same of TertonPemaLingpawasrecovered and from the possession of MS LobsangGakey Sherpa religious cloths ofTertonPemaLingpawere recovered. The same were taken into police possession with safety and respect. On sufficient grounds they both were arrested under appropriate section of law.

INTERROGATION:- During interrogation NgawangTsundue  disclosed that he is permanent resident of Tibeat and came to India in 2009-2010. He started living in Dharamshala, HP where he came in contact with the daughter of Head Cheepa of Tawang ,Arunachal Pradesh. In 2011, he married with the daughter of Head Cheepa but their marriage could not last and they divorced. Since then, NgawangTsundue was having enmity with Head Cheepafamily. NgawangTsundue  was aware that Idol of TertonPemaLingpawhich was being kept in the house of Head Cheepa had high religious and social value and if succeeds in steeling the same he would get the monetary gain on the one hand and defamation of head Cheepa on the other. He shared his planning with his live in partner MS LobsangGakeySherpa , who agreed to assist him in the crime.
About 10-15 days back he went to Tawang and on getting the opportune moment he broke open the house of Head Cheepa and stole the idol of TertonPemaLingpa. He along with the Idol came to Delhi where he with the assistance of his live in partner was trying to sell it in grey markets for several crore rupees. They were also trying to take the Idol to Tibet for getting the higher price. Arunachal Pradesh Police have been informed about the recovery and arrest.
