CLOSING CEREMONY – PFWS SPORTS EXCELLENCE INITIATIVE AMONG DELHI POLICE FAMILY

Police Families Welfare Society, a registered society of Delhi Police fraternity organized the closing ceremony of a month long sports excellence initiative, on the conclusion of its first phase. The first phase is of talent identification and the selected talent will thereafter be nurtured further in collaboration with the Ministry of Sports to make them grow as “Sports Achievers” and aim also to reach the National and International levels. It also marked the end of summer camps held at 10 different welfare centers of Delhi Police.

The function was held at Sports Ground, New Police Lines, Kingsway Camp on the forenoon of 11th June of 2017. There was a march past of shortlisted sports persons and oath taking ceremony which was duly accompanied by Delhi Police Band. Few events like track and field including short sprints, were performed before the chief guest, Sh. Amulya Patnaik, Commissioner of Police, Delhi. The Special Commissioner of Police/Welfare and Estate oversight, Sh. S. Vasudeva Rao was the guest of Honour. The Function was attended by senior police officers and their wives apart from a large number of police family members and participating children, belonging to 155 police colonies, all over Delhi. On this occasion, nearly twenty resource persons, who gave selfless services for Delhi Police in their specific domains, were felicitated by Commissioner of Police. Few prominent resource persons were Padma Shree awardee Sh. Yash Gulati, Ms. Ritu Swami Chaudhary from Sangeet Natak Academy and Dronacharya awardee Sh. Mahaveer Vishnoi. All these socially committed people provided selfless services to the members of Delhi Police families.
In order to boost the hidden talent and untapped potential amongst wards of police families, the sports excellence initiative for Delhi Police family has been launched by PFWS. With the help of coaches/players of Delhi Police Sports teams and coaches drawn from Sports Authority of India, a month long training programme was held in five disciplines i.e. Athletics, Shooting, Badminton, Football and Wrestling. The focal centers of these activities were different welfare centers at Maliviya Nagar, NPL, Ahata Kidara, Jagat Puri, Narela, Dwarka, Vikas Puri, Shalimar Bagh, Model Town and Pitam Pura. Out of the initial participants of 569 children, who joined this programme, a total of 178 sports persons including boys and girls were finalists. In the 2nd  phase of the initiative we shall strive to make a few achievers reach at national level to eventually contribute to the rational effort of improving performance at International level.
        President/PFWS Smt. Suchna Patnaik shared her vision and roadmap with all the senior officers and their families present over there and asked for their active participation in giving wings to the dreams of deserving and talented children of police families.

       Vice President PFWS, Dr. Sushi Singh said that under the visionary and able guidance of President/PFWS, it’s an honour to conceptualize and be a part of this amazing project of PFWS which shall change many lives and bring laurels to the community and Nation.

Sagar @ Punter a sharp shooter of Naveen Khati Gang arrested

Two sophisticated pistols alongwith 9 cartridges recovered. A reward of Rs 50,000/- was declared by Delhi Police for his arrest. A team of Special Cell, Northern Range, led by Insp. Sanjay Nagpal, Inspr. Prabhat Kumar & Insp. Pankaj Kumar under the supervision of Shri Pankaj Sood, ACP has arrested sharp shooter of notorious and desperate gangster Naveen @ Khati namely  Sagar @ Punter, alongwith his associate Ravi @ Cheeru. Two pistols alongwith 9 cartridges were recovered from their possession.  A Bullet Motor-Cycle used by gangster has also been seized. A reward of Rs 50,000/- was declared by Delhi Police for his arrest. There is a long history of gang war in Najafgarh and adjoining areas. Naveen @ Khati gang is a desperate gang having rivalry with Manjeet Mahal/ Ravinder @ Bholu gang. They are splinter group of Anoop/Balraj gang which had rivalry with Krishan Pehlwan gang. HE ALLEGEDELY OPERATED INSIDE THE JAIL CARRYING REWARD OF Rs. 20,000/- District Anti Robbery Cell, NWD has nabbed a desperate extortionist namely Harsimran @ Badal @ Simran s/o Harvinder Singh r/o BK-1/103-A, East Shalimar Bagh, Delhi, who is gang leader of Harsimran @ Badal Gang and carrying reward of Rs. 20000/-. He is a dreaded criminal of PS Shalimar Bagh and is involved in total 15 cases including two murders at PS Burari & Mandir Marg. He was wanted in many cases of Extortion etc. With his arrest four cases of Extortion and Arms Act of North West Distt have been worked out.
