Digital Gambling on Champions Trophy match between India and Sri Lanka busted running in a rented accommodation

  • Four Punters/ bookies have been arrested
  • 39 Mobile phones, Rs 40,000 cash, 10 register having detail of stake money, 4 laptops and 1 TV Set etc recovered.
 The Special Staff North West District has busted a racket of Digital Gambling on Champions trophy cricket match between India and Sri Lanka, being played at Oval, England. This racket was operating from a rented accommodation in the jurisdiction of PS Keshav Puram, New Delhi.  Four Punters/Bookies found gambling at the spot and 39 Mobile Phones, one TV Set, 10 Register/pad containing details of the bets played by various persons on the match, four laptops & Rs 40,000 cash having betting application were seized from the spot and a case vide FIR No. 341/17 dated 08.06.17 u/s 3/4/5/9/55 Gambling Act was registered at PS Keshav Puram, New Delhi.
TEAM AND INVESTIGATION:
On 08.06.17 at about 8 P.M, specific information was received by HC Satender Gulia at special staff North West District about a racket of Digital Gambling on Champions trophy cricket match between India and Sri Lanka, being played at Oval England, from a rented accommodation in Omkar Nagar, New Delhi. This information was further developed and it came to notice that a gambling racket is running at the second floor of the rented accommodation. Immediately, a team comprising of SI Manjeet, SI Vikas, SI Vijender Nagar, ASI Sushil, ASI Sukhwinder, HC Satender Gulia, HC Rahul, Ct Sushil, Ct. Aman, Ct Umed and Ct. Sombeer led by Inspr. Sunil Kumar under overall supervision of Sh. Anil Kumar, ACP/Operation was constituted to act promptly and take legal action. After obtaining a proper search warrant, a raid was conducted at the spot situated in Gali No. 6, Omkar Nagar, New Delhi and 4 below mentioned persons were found indulged in gambling at the spot and have been arrested vide case FIR No 341/17, dated 08.06.17 u/s 3/4/5/9/55 Gambling Act PS- Ashok Vihar, Delhi:-
ARRESTED PERSONS
  1. Lalit Kumar Gupta R/o Omkar Nagar, Tri Nagar, Delhi. Age 39 years. Studied upto 3rd standard and earlier was running a veg snacks shop (Pakora shop) in Karol Bagh.
  2. Vijay Kumar R/o Bapa Nagar, Karol Bagh, Delhi. Age 47 years. Studied upto 10th standard and earlier was doing leather scrap work.
  3. Durga Parsad Goyal @ Mama R/o Budh Vihar, Phase-I, Delhi. Age 47 years. Studied upto 9th standard and earlier was doing refueling of LPG gas.
  4. Raju Gupta R/o Budh Vihar, Phase-I, Delhi. Age 46 years. Studied upto 9th standard and earlier was running a grocery shop in Karol Bagh.
INTERROGATION AND MODUS OPERANDI :
All the accused persons were subjected to intensive interrogation during which all the accused persons disclosed that they stepped into gambling in order to earn quick and easy money. They all further stated that they have been indulging in this crime from last 3/4 years and used to keep on changing their static location so that they could not be identified or caught by police. Due to not operating from a static location they remained out of the reach/clutches of Police. Lots of mobile phones, on which they were taking calls on people betting, and 4 laptops having ibook betting assistant application found running from the accused persons.
        All the arrested persons belong to middle class families and are married. They all have been arrested first time.

  5. 40,000/- cash

Sagar @ Punter a sharp shooter of Naveen Khati Gang arrested

Two sophisticated pistols alongwith 9 cartridges recovered. A reward of Rs 50,000/- was declared by Delhi Police for his arrest. A team of Special Cell, Northern Range, led by Insp. Sanjay Nagpal, Inspr. Prabhat Kumar & Insp.
