Most wanted Interstate gangster Sherkhan arrested

  • Involved in umpteen a number of robbery cases of Delhi, UP, MP, Haryana, Rajasthan, Telangana and Maharastra States.
  • Carrying reward of Rs. 50,000/- from Delhi and Rs. 15,000/- from Uttar Pradesh.


A joint team of Special Cell, Delhi Police and UP Police led by Inspector Shiv Kumar and Inspr. Uday Pratap Singh, SHO/Barsana, Mathura, UP under the supervision of ACP Satyavir Singh arrested the most wanted mewati gangster Sherkhan (30 Yrs.) s/o Islam r/o Village Bishambra, Mathura, UP, from the area of PS Barsana, Mathura, UP after a brief encounter in the wee hours of 20.12.2016. One automatic sophisticated 9 MM Carbine with 20 live cartridges, one semi automatic sophisticated pistol of 7.65 MM with 9 live cartridges and one stolen Apache motorcycle were recovered. He is wanted in case FIR No. 03/13 dated 18.01.2013 u/s 3/4 MCOCA, PS Special Cell, Delhi. Reward of Rs. 50,000/- has been declared on his arrest by Delhi police. Reward of Rs. 15,000/- from UP has also been declared on his arrest.


INCIDENT :-
On 26.12.2015, Madhya Pradesh police was escorting five gangsters from Ujjain jail to Bhondsi jail. In the area of Nuh, Mewat, the gangsters namely Sherkhan, Sahun, Lilu a.k.a Fauji, Sarvar Pahalwan and Liyakat, gave sedative laced milk to police personnel and escaped from custody alognwith their weapons. One of the accused Sarvar Pahalwan was apprehended on the spot and another accused namely Liyakat surrendered on the next day. The remaining three accused persons have been absconding since then.
OPERATION :-
An information was received by the team of Special Cell/Southern Range that Sherkhan and Sahun who escaped from the custody of MP police might come to Sherkhan’s native village Bishambra via Barsana, Mathura. Sources were deployed to track their movements. After getting definite clues, a team led by Inspr. Shiv Kumar reached police station Barsana and requested SHO/Barsana for local police assistance. A team of UP police headed by Inspr.Uday Pratap, SHO/Barsana also joined the team of Inspr. Shiv Kumar of Special Cell/Southern Range. Both the teams jointly made concerted efforts to track the said criminals in the area of Barsana.

Inspr. Shiv Kumar got the specific input that both the criminals would go to village Bishambra in the early hours of 20.12.2016. At 4 AM, the above said two criminals were intercepted while they were going towards Kosi Kalan on an unnumbered Appache motorcycle, at the instance of one of the sources. As soon as the police teams surrounded them, they started firing on police parties indiscriminately. Some of the bullets hit the Bullet Proof jackets of Inspr. Shiv Kumar, Inspr. Uday Pratap, SI Pradeep Yadav and ASI Naresh Sirohi. However, accused Sherkhan was overpowered by the police team and accused Sahun managed to escape from the spot taking advantage of the darkness. One semi automatic sophisticated pistol of 7.65 MM with 9 live cartridges from Sherkhan was recovered.  In addition from his bag one automatic sophisticated 9 mm carbine with 20 live cartridges were recovered. The stolen Apache motorcycle was also taken into possession. A case vide FIR No. 405/16 u/s 186/353/307/34/411 IPC and 25/27 Arms Act was registered at police station Barsana, Distt. Mathura, UP.
INTERROGATION
While interrogated at length, Sherkhan admitted that after escaping from police custody he alongwith Sahun and Lilu a.k.a. Fauji took shelter in different hideouts. Whenever police teams raided their hideouts, they used to flee towards South India. Sherkhan further disclosed that he alongwith Sahun and Lilu a.k.a. Fauji committed One kidnapping for ransom, two Petrol pump robberies, Ten carjacking, two ATM robberies, Six Truck-jacking etc. in different States i.e. Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, Rajasthan, Maharastra and Telengana, during this period. With his arrest 20 heinous cases of different states are solved.
On further interrogation he revealed that Sherkhan and Sahun have rivalry with another gangster Harun of their own village. Sherkhan and Sahun murdered the father of Harun and his uncle and grabbed the agricultural land of Harun. To take revenge, Harun murdered four family members of Sahun. As per his disclosure they purchased automatic weapons including 9 MM automatic Carbine and pistols to organize a murderous attack on Harun and his associates.

PROFILE OF SHERKHAN
He was born in Village Bishambra of Mathura, UP in the year 1986. His father is farmer. He left his studies after 8thstandard, as he came in contact with bad elements of his village. At that time, he joined the most dreaded Mewati gang headed by Salli and Jafru (Brothers). He was initially arrested in the year of 2008 at PS Nuh, Mewat, Haryana for his involvement in 8 robbery cases. He got bail in the year 2010 and since then he committed a number of robberies.  He was arrested again in 2012 by Gurgaon Police. He was also booked under MCOCA by the Special Cell Delhi Police in the year 2013 as he was an active member of Salli and Jafru gang. During trial he did not appear in the court as he managed to escape from the custody of M.P. Police. On this, a reward of Rs. 50,000/- has been declared on his arrest by the Commissioner of Police, Delhi.  The U.P. Police also declared reward of Rs.15,000/- on his arrest.

Sagar @ Punter a sharp shooter of Naveen Khati Gang arrested
