CHEAT ARRESTED WITH ASSISTANCE OF MEDIA NEWS ARTICLE

ACCUSED CHEATED INNOCENT POOR PERSONS ON THE
PRETEXT OF FINANCING e-RICKSHAW
The staff of P.S. Rajouri Garden/West District has done a good work by arresting a cheat namely Rajat Taneja @ Sunny who cheats innocent poor persons on the pretext of financing e-Rickshaw in case FIR No.315 dated 21.02.2016 u/s 420/406/34 IPC PS Rajouri Garden, Delhi.
PROFILE OF ACCUSED ARRESTED
Rajat Taneja @ Sunny, S/o Ramesh Taneja, R/o Subhash Nagar, New Delhi. Age-33 years.
INCIDENT, TEAM AND ARREST
On 18.02.2016, a complaint was received from Sh. Rajiv Bahal who was running an institute in the name of Bahal Motors for training of e-Rickshaw driver at Subhash Nagar. For the said purpose he had employed several instructors and one of them was Rajat Taneja @ Sunny. After sometime he left the job. Subsequently, e-Rickshaw trainees of the institute came to the complainant Sh. Rajiv Bahal and asked for e-Rickshaws. When he made enquiries, it came to know that Rajat Taneja @ Sunny had taken Rs. 30,000/- to 50,000/- from 13 trainees of his Institute on the pretext that he will get the remaining amount of e-Rickshaw financed. The innocent poor persons who were cheated also corroborated the facts. On the statement of the complainant a case vide FIR No.315 dated 21.02.16 u/s 420/406/34 IPC was registered at PS Rajouri Garden and investigation was taken up.



INFORMATION, TEAM AND OPERATION:-

While the police was making all out efforts to trace Rajat Taneja @ Sunny, the cheated persons were also looking for him. One day the complainant informed the police and provided a newspaper article wherein a photograph was published in which the cheat Rajat Taneja @ Sunny was seen driving e-Rickshaw. The news clipping gave a thrust to the investigation and a team under the leadership of Inspr. Keshav Mathur, SHO/Rajouri Garden comprising SI Suresh Chand, HC Sunil Kumar 1541/W, HC Biri Singh 1564/W and Ct.Rahul 3004/W under the overall supervision of Sh. H.S.P. Singh, ACP Rajouri Garden was constituted to act swiftly.  On the basis of news article it was established that said Rajat Taneja @ Sunny is still driving and the place was identified from where photograph was clicked. The information was further cultivated and efforts by the police party yielded results. Rajat Taneja @ Sunny was apprehended and arrested in the above case. Further interrogation is in progress and all out efforts is being made to recover the cheated money.

A CHRONIC CHEAT AND PROCLAIMED OFFENDER IN MORE THAN 13 CASES ARRESTED

The PO Staff of PS Rani Bagh, North West District has arrested one Brij Bhushan Sharma S/O Shri Ghan Shyam Sharma R/O 776/14, Sec-14, Faridabad, Haryana, a chronic cheat and a proclaimed offender (PO) in more than 13 cases on 15.12.2015. The issue of arrest/tracing of POs has always remained top priority of policing.
