Case of attempt to murder of a rape victim’s mother solved

• Three accused arrested

With the arrest of accused namely, 1) Mohd Iqbal age-46 yrs S/O Bashir Ahmad R/O Okhla Village, 2) Wasim age-30 yrs S/O Abdul Wahid R/O Jasola Village Sarita Vihar and 3) Faisal Hussain, Age-36 yrs S/O Mohd Laeek R/O Shaheen Baag, Jamia Nagar Delhi, Jamia Nagar police have worked out a sensational case of attempt to murder in which a rape victim’s mother was targeted. In the morning of 23rd December 2016, the rape victim’s mother was shot at her back while she was going outside her house along with her daughter.

In this case the motorcycle used in the offence and the weapon of offence - a desi katta along with 2 cartridges and one empty cartridge which was used in the offence has also been recovered at the instance of accused persons.   

Incident:

          On dated 23/12/16 a PCR call was received in PS-Jamia Nagar regarding an incident of gunshot from Zakir Nagar. The caller, a young girl had informed that her mother had been shot at her back by two motorcycle borne assailants. The injured lady was immediately rushed to the hospital by police and was admitted in trauma centre, AIIMS New Delhi for treatment. The assailants were on a motorcycle with a muffled face. During further enquiry, it was found that a case of rape has also been registered on the complaint of the daughter of the injured lady.

INVESTIGATION  

              Keeping in view the sensitivity of the case a special team consisting of SHO/Jamia Nagar Insp. Vijay Pal Singh, SI Moolchand, PSI Bhagwan Singh and SI Varun Kumar was constituted under the supervision of ACP/NFC Harcharan Verma to work on the case of rape and attempt to murder. Several raids at different locations in Delhi & NCR succeeded to apprehend the accused Sajid from his relatives house in Dist. Bijnor U.P.                     During the course of interrogation the accused Sajid confessed his invovment in the case of rape but denied his role in case of attempt of murder. During the advance interrogation, the accused further hinted that one Faisal Hussain might have been the man behind the case of attempt to murder as he could be the only beneficiary if he(sajid) is send behind the bars for a long period. Initially his version inspired very little confidence, however for the next  two days conduct of Faisal and his close associates, namely Ikbal and Wasim was kept under strict surveillance and it was noted that all the three had a very low profile in the society for the last few days. Whereas before the incident Faisal and his both associates had been very active in their social circles. Their close relatives were examined who did not give any justified reply of their absence from the area. However, after following their movement closely suspects Wasim and Ikbal were nabbed in the night of 29/12/16. When they were subjected to sustained interrogation, both of them admitted their role in the offence of attempt to murder on the lady. They disclosed that the main conspirator of the crime was one Faisal Hussain. A search of Faisal Hussain was started and simultaneously his movements, & track record in last one month was analyzed. From the record it was revealed that all the three accused persons had assembled at two different places in the last 20 days. They had assembled abnormally and had gone upto Zakir Nagar, Tauba colony frequently. While questioning on this point none of them could give any logical reply of visiting the route which had lead to the house of the victim. They could not give any logical reply of assembling at certain points regularly and frequently.

               On sustained interrogation Iqbal and Wasim admitted that they were the main accused who had shot the lady but they had no personal enmity with her. They also disclosed that they had attempted to murder the lady on the direction of Faisal. All the possible hide outs of Faisal Hussain were raided and he was finally nabbed near sailing club point Batla house, Jamia Nagar on intervening night 29 and 30/12/16. He was interrogated at length, who disclosed that Sajid had become a challenge for him as during the presence of Sajid he was not able to earn the confidence of Bunty who helped Faisal and Sajid in investing money in properties. Faisal has hatched a conspiracy soon after he came to know that Sajid was involved in a case of rape. He also knew that the mother of rape victim had filed an application against Sajid stating that Sajid had given a threat to her and if any mishappening occurred with her Sajid will be held responsible for that. Faisal Hussain could appreciate this opportunity of falsely implicating Sajid in another heinous case & with the help of Ikbal and Wasim tried to kill the lady by firing on her. He also provided a desi katta and 4 Cartridges to Ikbal and Wasim and told them to shoot the lady.

        Following the command of Faisal Hussain both Iqbal and Wasim tracked on the house of the lady.      

RECOVERIES

1. One motorcycle which was used in commission of offence.
2. Weapon of Offence a Desi Katta 315 bore along with two live cartridges of same bore.
3. One empty fired cartridge which was thrown by accused persons to destroy the evidence.
