With the arrest of six criminals namely Rahim @ Sonu, Samir @ Lalla, Shahrukh, Mohsin, Anarul Momin and Chand Mohd. Sheikh, police officials of P.S. Okhla Industrial Area have busted a gang of desperate and notorious night burglars apart from night burglaries, the gang was also involved in  the sensational case of police station Sunlight colony in which two policeman were attacked on intervene night of 29-30.12.2016 when they tried to apprehend these notorious burglars.These burgulars used to break open the shutter of shops by using tools in the night in the area of South /South East District  and would attack anybody who would challenge them.

Incident and Operation

In the early hours of 30.12.16, these six desperate criminals broke open the shutters of two mobile phone shops in the area of village Kilokari, P.S. Sunlight Colony. They were confronted by two patroling police staff of P.S. Sunlight Colony. Finding themselves cornered, they attacked the police personnel by throwing chilly powder in their eyes and hitting them with an Iron Rod. The police personnel were seriously injured in the attack. A case vide FIR No. 553/16, U/s 186/353/307/458/380/120B IPC was registered at P.S. Sunlight Colony.

Keeping in view the gravity of the offence and attack on police personnel, DCP/South-East District formed various teams to crack and arrest the criminals involved in the case.

Team and Investigation:-

As per the directions of DCP/SED, a team comprising of SI Rakesh Sharma (I/C PP Okhla Phase-III), SI Anuj Kumar, ASI Hukum Chand, ASI Virender, ASI Sumer, HC Ashok, HC Padam, HC Narender, Ct. Narender, Ct. Nabtej, Ct. Ravi, Ct. Ravinder was constituted under the supervision of SHO/OIA Sh. Atul Kumar Verma assisted by Inps./Inv. Youdh Bir Singh and over all supervision of ACP/Kalkaji Sh. Amit Goel.

The team worked relentlessly and vigourously. CCTV footages of the incident were collected from the spot and scanned thoroughly. After the analysis of the CCTV footages and the conduct of the assailants, the team reached the conclusion that the modus operandi was  very much similiar to the modus operandi of Bangladeshi criminals. During the investigation it was found that the night burglaries were also reported in the area of P.S. Jamia Nagar during the fortnight. In these incidents, showrooms of  mobile phones, shoes, ready made garments,leather jackets, trolley bags and laptop bags, wallet and belts were targeted. Police team has collected CCTV footage of from both areas and found that similar criminals are involved in these cases. Sources were developed and informers were deployed.

Sincere efforts of the team bore fruit as on 6-1-2017 at 8 pm, SI Rakesh Sharma recived a specific information that the criminals involved in above heinous offence would come from Modi Mill Flyover side to Okhla phase II at around 10 pm via Anand Mai Marg to dispose off the stolen property and further to commit the crime again in a TSR No DLIRQ 7758. On this the above team was deployed and a trap was laid at strategic points near Kalkaji Mandir T point on Outer Ring Road and Maa Anand Mai Marg. At about 9.45 PM the team noticed the above TSR. The team members immediately surrounded the TSR. The occupants of the TSR including the driver tried to flee but were over powered at once.In total 44 smart phones of different make, one Iron rod, 6 red chilly powder, 5 leather jackets one LED TV make Sony, two wrist watches, 2 pair of shoes, pair of pant and shirts were recovered from them.

Interrogation & Modus operandi

On sustained interrogation, accused persons revealed that they have committed many burgalries in Delhi. In the day time they used to reckee the potential target i.e. shops/showrooms of mobile, cloths and grocery. In the late night they used the recovered auto for transportation. They used to lift the shutter with help of iron rod and one or two members of the gang enter and steal the cash and items of the shop/showroom. The gang members carry red chilli powder with them as a weapon to distract, in case they are confronted by any body. They are so desperate that they would not hesitate to use the iron rod to attack any body.

They further revealed that they used to sell the stolen items in weekly markets in Shashtri Park, Seelam Pur etc. They are addicted of consuming Liquor, Ganja & Smack. Most of them belong to west Bengal, bordering village of Bangladesh. They commit crime to fulfill their drug addiction and other enjoyments.

  Profile of accused Persons

1. Sonu @ Rahim s/o Abdul Sayeed r/o Shastri Park; Permanent add of Wardhman distt, WB, Age 24 yrs born in District Vardhman, West Bengal. He came to Delhi to earn livelihood but fall in bad company of Barul who is a desperate burglar. He became addicted of Smack & Ganja. He use to live with Barul at Shashtri Park Delhi and was a member of his gang. After some time he formed his own gang with co-accused and started committing burglaries. His parents live in West Bengal and are dependent. He was previously arrested in case FIR No. 528/15, U/s 186/353/34 IPC, P.S. Kotwali, Delhi.
2. Anarul Momin s/o Rehman Momin r/o H.No. 42, Gali No. 12, Kadri Masjid, Shastri Park, Age 20 yrs also belong to West Bengal and is active member of Sonu @ Rehan Gang. He is forth class school dropout and came to Delhi to earn lilvihood with maternal uncle, who works as a Kabari in the area of Shashtri Park. He came in contact with Sonu @ Reheem and started consuming Smack and Ganja and also started committing burglaries. He never caught by police earlier.
3. Chand Mohd s/o Murshlin r/o Haji ka Makaan, Gali No. 12, Kadri Masjid, Shastri Park, Age 22 yrs. He lives with his family at Shashtri Park. He used to work as rag-picker but fall in bad company and became addicted to Smack and Ganja. He also belongs to West Bengal and came in contact with Anarul momin and started crime with him.  
4. Shah Rukh s/o Ahmad Ali r/o H.No. C-91, Gali No. 11, Kadri Masjid, Shastri Park; Age 20 yrs. He lives with family at the above address and permanent resident of Darbhanga, Bihar. He became addicted to Smack and Ganja. He also belongs to West Bengal and came in contact with Anarul momin and started crime with him. He previously involved in case FIR No. 1092/15, U/s 379 IPC, P.S. Kotwali, New Delhi.
5. Sameer @ Lalla s/o Khillu r/o Tahir ka Makaan, Gali No. 9, Shastri Park
   Age 19 yrs. He lives with his family at Shashtri Park he used to work as rag-picker but falls in bad company and became addicted to Smack and Ganja. He also belongs to West Bengal and came in contact with Anarul momin and started crime with him.
6. Mohsin S/o Naushad R/o 56B, DDA Flats, Shashtri Park, Delhi, age-25 years. He is auto driver. He ply auto bearing No. DL-1RQ-7758 in night hopurs. His family resides with him at the above address, he is married and having two sons and one daughter. He came in contact with Anarul and Sonu who offered him Rs. 2500/- for one night for the transportation of their gang in Delhi. In greed to earn quick and more money he accepeted the proposal and providing the facility of auto to them.

10. One stolen trolley bag with  two pairs Nike shoes and cloths.
