AMULYA PATNAIK, IPS

An IPS AGMUT-cadre officer of the 1985 batch, Amulya Patnaik is a renowned personality in the field of law and order having handled several critical assignments in Delhi Police.  His dedication and impeccable leadership brought vast improvement in crime investigation, leading to noteworthy detections such as the Bombay blast accused, the parcel bomb case, the sensational Sarita Vihar kidnapping of a school boy by armed gangsters which was solved in a record 12 hours, the dreaded Asghar gang of dacoits and so on.

He was at the forefront of the police action to quell riots in two mammoth public rallies - anti-Dunkel and Uttarakhand. He received a grave injury during the anti-Dunkel rally in 1994 in which the mob turned violent.

In 1995, Patnaik took the initiative to launch Pratidhi, a Delhi Police programme to extend counselling and other assistance to victims of traumatic crimes which also brougth to the fore the empathetic aspect of his profile as a police officer.  It is working successfully to this day.

During his stint as IG, SPG, he is credited with the planning and managing the security of the lone train journey ever undertaken by a Prime Minister (Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee) in 2003.

Patnaik handled the Central, East and South Districts of Delhi Police wherein his focus on preventive planning and police-community partnership led to a drastic fall in heinous crimes.  His innovative steps like launching of the Anti-Obscene Calls Cell and Anti-Stalking Cell not only prevented crimes against women in Delhi but became a precursor of several such initiatives.  

As Joint CP, he had the rare distinction of heading both the Crime Branch and the Southern Range.  As Special CP/Administration, he was part of the team which brought about the recently given large-scale promotions in Delhi Police.

He also served as SSP, Law & Order, Puducherry, and DGP in the sensitive North-Eastern state of Mizoram.

Besides other recognitions for his illustrious contributions, he is also a recipient of the President’s Police Medal for distinguished service and the Police Medal for Meritorious Service.

Shri Amulya Patnaik also got the prestigious G-Files Excellent Contribution Award in the year 2015 for his outstanding track record of honesty, integrity and dedication to work.

Sagar @ Punter a sharp shooter of Naveen Khati Gang arrested

Two sophisticated pistols alongwith 9 cartridges recovered. A reward of Rs 50,000/- was declared by Delhi Police for his arrest. A team of Special Cell, Northern Range, led by Insp. Sanjay Nagpal, Inspr. Prabhat Kumar & Insp. Pankaj Kumar under the supervision of Shri Pankaj Sood, ACP has arrested sharp shooter of notorious and desperate gangster Naveen @ Khati namely  Sagar @ Punter, alongwith his associate Ravi @ Cheeru. Two pistols alongwith 9 cartridges were recovered from their possession.  A Bullet Motor-Cycle used by gangster has also been seized. A reward of Rs 50,000/- was declared by Delhi Police for his arrest. There is a long history of gang war in Najafgarh and adjoining areas. Naveen @ Khati gang is a desperate gang having rivalry with Manjeet Mahal/ Ravinder @ Bholu gang. They are splinter group of Anoop/Balraj gang which had rivalry with Krishan Pehlwan gang.
