MURDER THAT WAS COMMITTED FOR DOMINANCE IN THE AREA SOLVED :

WEAPON OF OFFENCE RECOVERED
With the arrest of one Ashish @ Babloo aged 34 years s/o Lekhraj r/o 16/211, H Bapa Nagar, Delhi, the staff of Police Station Prasad Nagar, Central district has solved a case of murder of a 28 years old man which was reported in the area of PS Prasad Nagar on 11.01.17 wherein the deceased was shot on his head from the close range by a country made pistol.
INCIDENT
On 11.01.17 at about 6.20 pm, a PCR call regarding an incident of firing where one person had been shot in Gali No. 5 Bapa Nagar was received at PS Prasad Nagar, Delhi. Local police rushed to the spot where it was learnt that one Paras s/o Thakur Dass r/o 16/836 H Bapa Nagar Delhi aged 28 years has been shot in the head with a firearm who has been rushed to the hospital.  Subsequently, a case of attempted murder was registered at PS Prasad Nagar vide FIR No. 12/17. On 13.01.17, the injured succumbed to his injuries during treatment at RML Hospital and accordingly the section of law was amended.
TEAM AND INVESTIGATION
A team consisting of SI Khalid, SI Sohan Lal, HC Vinay, HC Kishan, Ct. Mahesh and Ct. Narender was immediately constituted under the supervision of Inspr. Vikramjit Singh SHO/Prasad Nagar and the overall command of Sh. Shiv Dayal, ACP/Karol Bagh.
The team was immediately deployed to gather local intelligence as to who is involved in the crime. The prompt action gave results and the beat staff were able to identify the accused as Babloo s/o Lekhraj, a resident of the same vicinity. A raid was immediately conducted at his house but he was found missing.

Several raids were conducted at the houses of the close and distant relatives of the accused and his other possible hideouts but to no avail. Secret sources were also roped in to get some clue regarding the whereabouts of the accused. It was learnt that the accused was previously involved in 09 cases of theft, bodily offences and arms act and accordingly his accomplices of previous crimes were also interrogated and questioned at length. Finally on 18.01.17, there was an input that the accused was trying to contact a lawyer for seeking bail in the court and for this purpose, he may go to Tis Hazari court. Accordingly, the police team in plain clothes was deployed in the court which managed to track and apprehend him.
INTERROGATION
The accused was subjected to sustained interrogation during which he disclosed that he works as a mechanic and knows deceased since they live in the same vicinity. Deceased Paras was also previously involved in seven cases of murder, attempt to murder, robbery, theft etc. Deceased tried to dominate the local criminals of the area but he found that some of his accomplices were getting close to the accused. In order to insult him and to prove his dominance, deceased had tied the accused to a tree a month back and pissed on him in public. The accused nursed a grudge and was waiting for opportunity take revenge from him. It was revealed that a few months back when the two were having good terms, deceased had handed over a country made pistol (loaded with four live cartridges) to the accused for repairing since it had gone out of working order. There was a minor fault that was rectified by the accused but he did not return it back to the deceased.
On the day of incident, the accused was going back home when he saw that deceased Paras was consuming liquor in the street in an inebriated state. Taking it as an opportunity that he was looking for, he immediately rushed to his house and brought the country made pistol and shot twice on the head of the deceased from close range and ran away.

The weapon of offence (a country made pistol) has been recovered at the instance of the accused. Further investigation is in progress.

Two sophisticated pistols alongwith 9 cartridges recovered. A reward of Rs 50,000/- was declared by Delhi Police for his arrest. A team of Special Cell, Northern Range, led by Insp.
