INTERSTATE DACOIT/ROBBER/MURDERER, GANG LEADER OF CHANDRAMA GANG ARRESTED.

  • CASH REWARD OF RS.1,00,000/- WAS DECLARED BY DELHI POLICE ON HIS ARREST.
  • WANTED IN SEVERAL CASES OF ROBBERY INCLUDING MURDER.
  • ONE DESHI KATTA OF .315 BORE ALONGWITH 2 LIVE CARTRIDGES RECOVERED.
Crime Branch has arrested an interstate dacoit/robber/murderer, gang leader of Chandrama gang namely Chandrama Prashad (33 yrs) s/o Jayantri Prashad r/o Village Koilari, PS Rani Ki Sarai, District Azamgarh, UP. A cash reward of Rs.1,00,000/- was declared by Delhi Police on his arrest. He is previously involved in more than 18 cases of robbery, dacoity, theft and Arms Act. He is also a History Sheeter/Bad Character (BC) of PS Rani Ki Sarai, Distt. Azamgarh, UP. He alongwith his associates has committed several sensational robberies including murder in Delhi and was wanted in a murder case registered vide FIR No.260/16, u/s 302/307/394/120B/34 IPC, PS Adarsh Nagar and cases of robberies registered vide FIR Nos.376/16 u/s 395/397/34 IPC and 315/16 u/s 392/394/34 IPC of PS Adarsh Nagar, North-West District.
INFORMATION & OPERATION: - 
For the apprehension of this wanted hard core criminals involved in sensational and heinous cases of Delhi & NCR, a team of officers of Crime Branch led by ACP Shweta Chauhan, consisting of Insp. Satish Kumar, SI Ajit Singh, ASI Shailender Singh, HCs Praveen Kumar, Sohan Lal, Dinesh Kumar, Ravinder Joon, Ravi Khari, Devdutt, Jagpravesh, Ajay, Cts Deepesh Kumar, Mahesh, Azad Singh and Naveen under the close supervision of DCP Dr. G Ram Gopal Naik and under overall guidance of Addl.CP K.K.Vyas was constituted to make all possible efforts to establish their hideouts and to apprehend them.
During the visit to Azamgarh, UP in a different case, some input regarding the movement of hardcore desperate criminal Chandrama Prashad to Delhi to commit some other sensational robbery/dacoity came into notice. On further verification, it came to notice that Delhi Police has declared Rs.1,00,000/- cash reward on his arrest. Informers were deployed to obtain specific information and whereabouts of the accused.
On 19/01/2017, a specific information was received by HC Sohan Lal of Special Team, Crime Branch that the accused would come near Gole Chakkar, Shah Alam Bandh Road, Jahangirpuri, Delhi to meet his associates to plan a big robbery/dacoity. On this information, the constituted team swung into action and laid a trap near the place of information. The accused Chandrama Prashad was intercepted at the instance of the informer and when the raiding party went near to apprehend him, he took out his Desi Katta of .315 bore from his pocket and tried to fire on the raiding party, but HCs Sohan Lal & Praveen bravely and swiftly overpowered and apprehended him.
INTERROGATION: -
          During interrogation, he disclosed that he was born in Jahangirpuri, Delhi in a poor family. He did not attend school. His elder brothers were labourers/driver in Azadpur Sabzi Mandi and he also started working in Azadpur Sabzi Mandi. After some time, he shifted to his native place and started farming with his father. Thereafter, to earn quick and easy money, he started committing thefts/robberies alongwith his associates. He was arrested by the UP Police in a number of cases. After pressure from UP police, he shifted to Delhi and started committing robberies/dacoities/snatchings with his associates near Azadpur Sabji Mandi. He has committed various sensational robberies/snatchings by using deadly arms/weapons after injuring the victim in North West District.
Accused was arrested in 2007 by local police of PS Adarsh Nagar and thereafter in 2008 by PS Ashok Vihar. After release from jail, he re-constituted the gang in the name of Chandrama with his other associates Bhim @ Sagar, Vijay, Rakesh, Ramesh, Rampher, Sohan, Vijay Langda & Sada Chiranjeev Yadav and started committing robberies/dacoities in North West District in Delhi. He disclosed to have committed the following robberies/dacoities/murders during last one year:-
  1. 11 months ago, he along with his associate Sagar @ Bhim r/o Azamgarh, UP while riding on a bike, robbed 3.70 lakhs on knife point from a person, who was travelling on an e-Rikshaw in the area of PS Mahendra Park.
  2. 8-9 months ago, he along with his associates Sagar @ Bhim & Rakesh while riding on a bike, robbed 3.65 lakh on gun point from a person near Shah Alam Bandh Road.
  3. 6 months ago, he along with associates Rampher Yadav r/o Jahangirpuri and Sagar @ Bhim r/o Azamgarh UP while riding on a bike, murdered a cloth merchant, while robbing his bag in the area of Majlis Park.
  4. 5 months ago, he alongwith his associates Sagar @ Bhim r/o Azamgarh U.P. and Rampher Yadav r/o Jahangirpuri while riding on a bike, robbed Rs 3.36 lakh from a person after hitting him with a rod near GTK Road Azadpur Flyover. The victim was riding a scooter.
  5. 4 months ago, he alongwith his associates namely Rampher Yadav, Vijay, Rakesh, Bhim @ Sagar @ Kallu, Ramesh, Sada Charanjeevi Yadav while riding on three bikes, robbed Rs. 18 lakh from a person on gun point near Azadpur flyover. The victim was riding a bike.
  6. 2 months ago, he along with his associates Sagar @ Bhim r/o Azamgarh and Rakesh r/o Ajamgarh while riding on a bike, robbed Rs.10 lakhs from a person on gun & knife point near Bhalaswa village.
PROFILE: -
Accused Chandrama Prashad s/o Jayanti Prashad was born in Jahangirpuri, Delhi. He is an illiterate. He has three brothers and one sister.  All the three brothers are residing in jhuggi area of Jahangirpuri with their families and working in Azadpur Mandi as labourer and driver. He is married and has four daughters. His wife and children are residing in his native place with his father and mother. He is previously involved in 18 cases of robbery/dacoity/theft/Arms Act/Gangster Act out of which 13 cases were registered in UP and 5 cases in Delhi and he is a history sheeter/bad character of PS Rani Ki Sarai, Distt. Azamgarh, UP.
