Member of Raju Hakla Gang arrested by Crime Branch from Kanpur, UP.

  • The accused was wanted in a bus robbery case of PS Mayapuri of the year 2008.
  • He was declared Proclaimed Offender by the trial court and cash reward of Rs. 25,000/- was announced by CP/Delhi for his arrest.
INTRODUCTION
The Crime Branch has arrested a member of Raju Hakla gang from Kanpur, UP who was wanted in a bus robbery case of PS Mayapuri. The accused was declared Proclaimed offender by the trial court and cash reward of Rs. 25,000/- was declared by CP/Delhi for his arrest. The arrested accused person has been identified as Gaurav Sonkar @ Rahul @ Abhinay (aged 30 years) r/o Kanpur City, UP.
INFORMATION, TEAM & OPERATION
On 27.10.2017, ASI Santraj Singh posted in Inter-border Gangs Investigation Squad, Dwarka received a secret information about hideouts of the accused in Kanpur City, UP. This information was further developed and a team of Crime Branch under close supervision of ACP Jasbir Singh led by Insp. Sunil Jain comprising ASIs Santraj Singh, Kartar Singh, Suresh Kumar, Babu Ram, Rajender Prasad HCs Rajeev Sahrawat, Ramkumar, Ranjit and Consts. Om Prakash and Praveen was constituted to nab the criminal. The Crime Branch team immediately flung into action and traced the hideout of the wanted criminal in Kanpur City and he was finally apprehended at Khatkana Latouche Road and was arrested under appropriate sections of law.    
INTERROGATION & DISCLOSURE
Interrogation of the accused Gaurav Sonkar revealed that his family had shifted from Kanpur, UP to Subzi Mandi, Delhi long ago and then to Sultan Puri area. During this period, he fell in bad company and started his criminal career with petty offences. Thereafter, he came in contact with Raju Hakla, a desperate criminal of the area who was running a gang of pick-pocketers in Delhi. Raju Hakla is gang leader of pick-pockets and is involved in more than 70 cases of murder, attempt to murder, robbery, arms act, hurt etc. Accused Gaurav Sonkar joined his gang and started participating actively in gang activities and remained involved in cases of arms act, theft, preparation of dacoity in the area of police stations Nangloi, Sultan Puri and Mangol Puri.
During this period, he alongwith his associates involved in a robbery case of PS Mayapuri registered vide FIR No. 65/08 dated 04.05.2008 u/s 392/397/398 IPC PS Mayapuri, Delhi in which they robbed the passengers of a running bus after injuring them with knives. In this case, the accused Gaurav Sonkar was declared as Proclaimed Offender by the trial court on 25th February, 2010. Since then, the accused absconded to Kanpur, UP and was avoiding his arrest. Later on, a cash reward of Rs. 25,000/- was also declared by CP/Delhi for his arrest.  

Concerned authorities have been informed regarding arrest of the accused. His further criminal involvements in Kanpur, UP are being verified.
