OVERCONFIDENT TECHIE WHO USED TO HARASS FEMALE VICTIM

The staff of Cyber Crime Cell/West District has cracked a sensational cyber crime harassment by arresting the accused namely Aman Singh, B. Tech (IT) in a case registered u/s 419/420/506 IPC r/w 66C & 66D of the Information Technology Act in P.S. Hari Nagar. Mobile phones, Laptop and other gadgets used in committing the crime have been recovered from his instance.  
PROFILE OF ACCUSED ARRESTED :-
Aman Singh S/o Sh. Shamsher Bahadur Singh R/o Paschim Vihar, New Delhi. Age-23 yrs. He studied in reputed school of Paschim Vihar and got B.Tech degree in Information Technology. He has been placed on a good package in IT Company.
RECOVERY:-
  1. 03 mobile phones with National and International SIM Cards.
  2. 01 Apple Mac book.
3. 01 Tab.
4.  01 Laptop make DELL.
INFORMATION/OPERATION:-

Complaint was given by a woman R/o Hari Nagar in P.S. Hari Nagar regarding harassment through computer and threatening by mobile phone and social media sites.  She alleged that her sister-in-law (nanad) met one Aman Singh in a college fest in Delhi University and both became friend, but after some time her sister-in-law broke up the friendship. Thereafter, since 31/10/2016, one person started harassing her sister-in-law on social media sites. When her sister-in-law didn’t respond the unknown person suspected to be the same, Aman Singh. Then said unknown person started sending unwarranted messages on WhatsApp to all of her family members with sexually contained remarks and threatening of dire consequences. The alleged unknown person has also created a facebook account in the name of the sister-in-law of the complainant without her consent and knowledge and posted photographs and remarks/comments to harass and defame her in the society. Due to this the victim went into depression and this action of the alleged accused curtailed her liberty among the society. On the complain, a Case u/s 419/420/506 IPC r/w 66C & 66D of the Information Technology Act was registered at P.S. Hari Nagar and looking on to the gravity and sanctity of the offence the matter was referred to Cyber Crime Cell of West District for technical surveillance and to nab the accused.  
A team of Cyber Crime Cell/West Distt under the supervision of Shri Jagjit Sangwan, ACP/Operation Cell comprising of Insp. Manoj Kumar, SI Satish Dagar and ASI Vijay were engaged to crack the case by using their technical and professional skills and expertise. The constituted team obtained all the relevant information, required technical data from social media sites and service providers. During investigation the accused found sending filthier messages, texts and photographs on mobile through social media and mobile applications. The complainant and her family repeatedly started receiving messages and calls from international numbers. On CDR analysis no such number is reflected. The skilled team of Cyber Crime Cell kept a close monitoring on the calls and inferred that these calls and messages were sent through mobile applications. CDRs of suspected numbers were studied at length and reached to a conclusion that the alleged caller/sender has started doing the harassment through a new number.

On 11/02/2017 the culprit took a JIO SIM from his college friend and started sending messages on pretext of some third person. The said number picked by the Cyber Crime Cell team. After much technical chase the culprit was zero downed to be none other but Aman Singh and on analysis of suspected number, position of the accused was zeroed down. On 16/02/2017 the team under the supervision of Insp. Manoj Kumar I/C Cyber Crime Cell comprising of W/Insp. Usha Sharma, SI Satish Dagar, ASI Munni Devi and Ct. Surender of P.S.Hari Nagar succeeded in apprehending the accused Aman Singh while he was engaged in committing the crime from his house. On his interrogation, accused confessed his guilt and on his instance mobile phones, Laptops and other gadgets have been recovered.

INTERROGATION/MODOUS OPERANDI:-  
On interrogation accused Aman Singh disclosed that he met the victim during a college festival in Delhi University through his common school friends in 2015 and he got attracted to her. The accused was very much possessive about the girl who doesn’t like him. The victim warned the accused several times but the accused has deep infatuation for her.

He started harassing the girl on mobile through social media. Initially the girl ignored the activities of the accused but later told everything about the suspicion messages to her family members. The family members of the girl asked the girl to remain at home and this ruined her studies as well as her social life. The accused is well aware of the mobile and social media technology. He has created fake Facebook account in the name of girl by creating a gmail ID with the help of the information available with him about the victim girl and posted photographs and sent friend requests to her friends and family members. The accused also took advantage of mobile applications available on internet to call and send messages/chats through fake name & fake international numbers. The over smart engineer accused displayed his all technical skills to misguide the police but the professional and skilled team of Cyber Crime Cell/West District succeeded in unveiling the case.
