Delhi Police celebrated its 70th Raising Day


Today Delhi Police celebrated its 70th Raising Day in a spectacular ceremony organized at New Police Line Kingsway Camp parade ground. Sh. Hansraj Gangaram Ahir, Hon’ble Minister of State (Home) Ministry of Home Affairs, Govt. of India was the Chief Guest on the occasion.  He was given ceremonial salute and he inspected the grand parade comprising of contingents of Anti Riot Squad, Armed Police, Women Police, Police Commandos, Dog Squad, Mounted Police, Traffic Squad, Women Constables on bicycle, PCR Squad, SWAT and Rakshak Vajra.  
For the first time in Delhi Police history, UP Police contingent also took part in the March Past, which was synchronized with melodious Delhi Police Band.  The Chief Guest conferred medals on 44 police personnel for Gallantry, President Medal of Distinguished Service and Police Medal for Meritorious Service.  The trophy of Best Police Station was bagged by P.S. Kirti Nagar, while PS Samai Pur Badli and PS Ashok Vihar ended up I & II runners-up, respectively.  Sh. Ramniwas Goyal, Speaker, Sh. Vijender Gupta, Leader of Opposition, Delhi Vidhan Sabha, Sh. Sanjeev Sachdeva, Hon’ble Justice Delhi High Court and several retired as well as serving senior police officers from various police organizations also graced the occasion.
Details of the officers and men who were decorated with the Medals are as follow:-
Police Medal for Gallantry:-  SI Krishan Kumar, ASI Ajay Bir Singh, HC Raj Kumar &  HC Umesh Kumar.

Sh. Amulya Patnaik, Commissioner of Police, welcomed the Chief Guest and gathering and undertook maximum commitment of the force in keeping the city safe and secure. He further promised to use all his experience, abilities, perseverance and team work to take this force to new heights.  He commended various past initiatives of Delhi Police, including mobile apps and help lines for Lost Report, Senior Citizens, Women & children in Distress, Police Clearance and Traffic Updates etc.  He further commented that he vowed to make police more people friendly and more digitized to cope up with changing nature of crime in the metropolitan.  He reiterated that Delhi Police is well equipped and in high morale to face any eventuality like terrorist attack.  

Speaking on the occasion, the Hon’ble State Home Minister stated that recently the city has got a new L.G and a new Commissioner and Delhi should feel safer under two seasoned and hard working leaders.  He cautioned the citizens against internal terrorism which is no less powerful than external threats. He however expressed his confidence in Delhi Police force, which is well equipped to fight any kind of contingency.  Indicating that Delhi is at the centre stage of all political, social, cultural as well as commercial activities happening all over the country, he said that the metropolitan police has to be well prepared to face and control any event at large scale, besides performing it regular duties like maintaining law and order and containing crime.  He also laid stress on friendly police force and stated that the interests of women, children and senior citizens should be given top priority. He reiterated and promised that the Ministry Home Affairs shall have a positive outlook towards the requirements of Delhi Police.
