GANGSTER WANTED FOR MURDERS IN BAGHPAT ARRESTED BY CRIME BRANCH.

  • UP GUNDA ACT WAS ALSO INVOKED AGAINST HIM.
  • ALSO FIRED UPON A UP POLICE PARTY IN A BID TO ESCAPE ON 05.01.17.
SOS, Crime Branch, Delhi has arrested Ankit Tomar @ Ajay (28) r/o Distt.- Baghpat, UP. He is wanted in two murder cases of Baghpat, UP. He was also wanted for firing upon the police party in his bid to escape from getting arrested in January 2017. Provisions of UP Gunda Act were also invoked against him.
TEAM & INCIDENTS:-
On 26.10.17 information regarding Ankit Tomar was received in SOS, Crime Branch. A team led by Ms. Shweta Singh Chauhan, ACP SOS Crime Branch comprising of Inspr. Puran Pant No. D-3434, ASI’s Bijender, Surender, Ashok & Narender & Ravinder, HC’s Parveen No.  436/OD, Virender Kumar No. 267/Cr., & Satish No. 170/Cr., Ct’s Parminder Singh No. 853/Cr., Sonu No. 1400/Cr., Bhupender No. 1514//Cr. & Sushil No. 1520/Cr. was constituted to further develop the information.

A trap was laid near underpass, Mundka-Ranikhera Road, Kanjhawala, Delhi and at about 06:00 PM, Ankit Tomar @ Ajay was apprehended by the team. A.315 bore country made pistol with two live rounds was recovered from his possession. A case, vide FIR No. 190/17, dated 26.10.2017 U/s 25/27 Arms Act, PS Crime Branch, Delhi was registered for the same.

On sustained interrogation, Ankit @ Ajay broke down and admitted to having committed two murders in Baghpat, UP. He also admitted to having fired upon a police party in January 2017 in a bid to escape from getting arrested.  The story that emerged is as under.
On 7.5.16 Ankit and his associate Sohanveer Singh shot dead Arjun of Bagpat, UP. Arjun was a gangster belonging to a rival gang, Arjun’s associate Pankaj had been beaten up by Ankit after he passed some lewd remarks on Ankit’s girlfriend. Arjun was in jail at the time but threatened Ankit that he would settle the score after coming out of jail. When Arjun came out on bail, Ankit and Sohanveer waylaid him in a crowded market in Doghat, Baghpat, UP and shot him dead in broad daylight.

Thereafter, on 25.12.16, on Christmas day, Ankit, Sohanveer and their other associates shot dead one Devi Singh of village Dhanaura, Badot, Bagpat, UP. The gang caught Devi Singh in his field early morning and pumped more than 50 rounds in him. They kept on firing at him even when he was already dead. Devi Singh was a witness to another murder which had been committed by Ankit’s associate, Sohanveer Singh.

On 05.01.17 at about 6:00 PM, Ankit and his associates were cornered by UP Police near Dera Sacha Sauda, Hindan Bridge, Bagpat, UP. Ankit managed to escape after firing upon the police party. However, Sohanbir and two others were apprehended by UP police.
PROFILE OF ACCUSED:-
Ankit Tomar is educated and has done MA in Sociology from Chaprauli Road, Badot, Baghpat, UP. His family has 22 Bighas of cultivable land in Baghpat UP. Previously he had two cases of assault registered against him in Baghpat, UP. After killing Arjun he eloped with his girlfriend and later married her,

Baghpat Police has been informed about Ankit’s arrest. Further investigation in the case is on.
