Interstate Co-ordination Meeting

An interstate co-ordination meeting aimed at strengthening cooperation and coordination in order to address various issues related to policing in Delhi & neighbouring states was held under the chairpersonship of CP/Delhi today at PHQ.



CP/Delhi appreciated the cooperation extended by Border States in implementation of Hon’ble National Green Tribunal (NGT) orders to check pollution and traffic chaos. He further laid stress on the need to increase frequency of meetings like this, such that senior police officers across the State meet regularly and chalk out strategies for crime/criminal control having inter-state ramifications.

The major areas of concern discussed during the meeting were illicit firearms, inter-state gangs, drugs, traffic etc. Commissioner of Police emphasised upon having senior level Nodal Officers to be nominated for real time exchange of information. He further asked the representatives from Border States to act tough against and crack down heavily the criminals who dare to move with the firearms. Strategies to contain this menace were discussed at length.

Commissioner of Police further asked all the representatives to fix dates & times for periodic drive for checking criminals carrying firearms and suggested for institutionalization of grass root level cooperation. 
            Traffic flow during Christmas & New Year’s Eve and steps to check unauthorised intrusion or transportation of liquor at borders were also discussed.

The important objective of the meeting was to share terror related intelligence and inputs about various extremist outfits & their plan to disturb peace in view of forthcoming festive season.  Senior officers of Delhi Police and their counterparts from Haryana, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar and Rajasthan attended the meeting.

 The officers attending the meeting shared intelligence to check crimes committed by interstate criminals and organised gangs of auto lifters and mobile snatchers operating in their respective areas.  Issues of human trafficking, proliferation of smuggling of illicit firearms etc were also discussed, besides preventive steps emphasizing upon integrated joint checking at unmanned borders.


            The meeting ended with a resolution to have increased co-ordination in policing in the NCR region with emphasis on one to one interaction at all levels and units in order to provide a more secure environment to citizens of Delhi and neighbouring states.
