PM MODI AND DELHI POLICE FAIL TO SERVE THE PEOPLE

SUICIDE OF MINOR IN TILAK NAGAR POLICE STATION PROVE THE CARELESSNESS OF DELHI POLICE

A 17 year old minor girl committed suicide in the Tilak Nagar Police Station yesterday night at 1:30 am due to the negligence of the police. AAP Spokesperson Atishi addressed the media by saying that the police is for the safety and security of people and should not be responsible for the mishaps in the society. She raised few questions on the police, first being the detention of a minor at midnight even after knowing that the law does not allow the police to detain any female after eight in the evening. Second, why was the girl kept in the lock up late at night away from her parents? Third, why did the police officers run away after seeing the girl hanging instead of saving her? Fourth, why the incharge of police station not been arrested yet?


Tilak Nagar MLA Jarnail Singh briefed up about the incident by saying that like every other civilian the minor girl went to the Tilak Vihar police station to seek help from police on a small fight with neighbour but unaware of the fact that a department which is responsible for the safety of people became the reason for the death of a needy. The helpless girl hanged herself to death in the police station when the police locked her brother in the cell when he was arguing with other party in support of his sister but no police officer came up for her rescue and watched her dying. MLA Jarnail Singh has made every possible attempts to provide justice to 17 year old Komal and her suffering parents.


Mr Singh also informed the media that after the case, two constables have been suspended and no further investigation has been done yet. The commissioner must justify the presence of a minor girl in the police station at midnight and her suicide in the presence of police.


AAP Spokesperson Atishi considered this case to be a pure custodial death as the police despite knowing that the girl committed suicide in the lock up the police did not save her intentionally.


AAP National Spokesperson Richa Pandey Mishra mentioned that the case of custodian death is not new for Delhi. The data of last ten months state that more than 1,680 cases of custodian deaths have been registered in India. Recently due to the mishandling of police an air hostess committed suicide under pressure by jumping from the second floor of her house, a boy hanged himself in the police station of Karawal Nagar due to the torture of police, a man died in the Adarsh Nagar police station due to some suspicious issues, a 64 year old jumped off from a two storied building in Narayana police station due to the pressure and torture from police. Richa Pandey Mishra asked the Home Minister Rajnath Singh to answer about the proceedings of the above cases.


When the people are not safe in the police stations then how is it possible for them to be safe outside? This is the proof of failure of Delhi police and the LG. It is obvious that Home Minister Rajnath Singh and the LG is answerable for all the happenings in Delhi. The responsibilities of the police in Delhi has to decided and reminded to them. The full statehood of Delhi is now a compulsion so that the carelessness of police can be answered by the Delhi Government.
