Major gang of robbers active in West, South-West & Rohini District of Delhi busted by Crime Branch, five robbers arrested

• Accused persons confessed to their involvement in dozens of road/house robberies during last month, including a sensational Rs. 3.18 lac gunpoint robbery case of PS Vikaspuri.
• 5 country made pistols and 8 live cartridges, 2 laptops, 5 mobile phone/tab, gold ornaments and an Apache motorcycle recovered.
• One of the accused is a National level Taekwondo player and also doing robotics and claims to have designed blue print of a robot. He entered in crime to earn money for his ambitions of robot designing.     

INTRODUCTION

The Crime Branch has busted a major gang of robbers active in West, South-West & Rohini Districts of Delhi and arrested five members of the gang including the gang leader. Huge recovery has been effected from the accused persons including 5 country-made pistols, 8 live cartridges, 2 stolen laptops, 5 mobile phones/tab, gold ornaments and Apache motorcycle. Most of the gang members had come out of the jail recently and had created sensation after committing a series of gunpoint house robberies in Delhi.

One of the arrested accused Siddharth Sharma is a National level Taekwondon player and told that he is also doing robotics and claims to have designed blue print of a robot. He entered in crime with his friend to earn quick money to fulfill his ambitions. Details of the arrested accused persons are as under: -

1. Amit Yadav @ Rajneesh (aged 22 years) r/o Gali No. 6, Peer Baba Road, Om Vihar, Phase-V, Uttam Nagar, Delhi.
2. Vikas Puri (aged 21 years) r/o Hastal Village, Uttam Nagar, Delhi.
3. Vikas (aged 24 years) r/o Gali No. 6, Jai Vihar, Najafgarh, Delhi.
4. Sidharth Sharma @ Ankit (20 years) r/o Sainik Enclave, Vikas Nagar, Delhi.
5. Gaurav (20 years) r/o Gupta Enclave, Vikas Nagar, Delhi.

INFORMATION, TEAM & OPERATION

Keeping in view the incidents of house robberies and burglaries in recent past, a team of SWR/Crime Branch, Dwarka was specially tasked to track the movements and apprehend robbers & burglars active in the area.

After hard field and diligent technical work, on 01.09.2017, ASI Mahesh Tyagi and Ct. Ravinder Singh received a secret information that the members of Amit Yadav @ Rajneesh gang, involved in several cases of sensational gunpoint robberies, would come at Najafgarh drain road in Dwarka on a stolen Apache bike to dispose off stolen articles. This information was further developed and a team of Crime Branch under close supervision of ACP Jasbir Singh led by Insp. Yashpal Singh, SI Vimal Dutt, ASIs Mahesh Tyagi, Randhawa, Bhoop Singh, Govind Singh, HC Dharmender, Consts. Ravinder Singh, Badri Prasad, Rahul and Praveen was constituted to nab the criminals. The team laid a trap near expected place of their arrival. During evening time, the said motorcycle was successfully intercepted on the instance of secret informer, on which three of the accused persons Amit Yadav @ Rajneesh, Vikas Puri and Vikas were sitting. They were directed to surrender, but the accused persons tried to escape and whipped out their country made pistols, but were successfully apprehended by alert members of Crime Branch team after a chase and scuffle. On search, 5 country-made pistols, 8 live cartridges, 2 stolen laptops, 5 mobile phones/tab and gold ornaments were recovered from their possession. On interrogation, the accused persons revealed that the recovered motorcycle had been stolen by them from Hastal area. Accordingly, a case under appropriate sections of law was got registered and the accused persons were arrested accordingly.

Thereafter, the accused persons Sidharth Sharma @ Ankit and Gaurav were also arrested by Crime Branch team in the morning of 02.09.2017, who were involved with them in a sensational gunpoint robbery of Rs. 3.18 lacs of PS Vikaspuri dated 28.08.2017.

INTERROGATION, DISCLOSURE & CASES SOLVED

On interrogation, the gang leader Amit Yadav @ Rajneesh and his associates Vikas & Vikaspuri revealed that initially they were indulged in burglary but later on they purchased firearms and started using them during commission of burglary in order to threaten the victims, if they raise alarm. The accused persons have further confessed to their involvement in following sensational criminal incidents of gunpoint road/house robberies etc.: -

1. On 28.08.2017, all the arrested five accused persons alongwith their associates robbed away a bag containing cash to the tune of Rs. 3.18 lacs on pistol point from an employee of a milk distributor from Indira camp, Vikaspuri area, while he was going to deposit the same in bank. A case vide FIR No. 410 u/s 392/34 IPC is registered at PS Vikaspuri in this regard. The accused persons purchased home appliance of the booty and also deposited a part of it in a bank.

2. In the intervening night of 28/29.07.2017, the accused persons Amit Yadav, Vikas Puri and Vikas entered in the house of Shri Vikram r/o G-230, Phase-I, Jai Vihar and robbed away cash and laptop on pistol point. A case vide FIR No. 491/17 dated 29.07.2017 u/s 392/34 IPC is registered at PS Ranhola in this regard.

3. In the intervening night of 28/29.07.2017 itself, the accused persons robbed cash to the tune of Rs. 15,000/- and gold ornaments from house of Shri Dishant r/o C-30, Jai Vihar on pistol point, while he was sleeping with his family. A case vide FIR No. 492/17 dated 29.07.2017 u/s 392/34 IPC is registered at PS Ranhola in this regard.

4. In the intervening night of 30/31.07.2017, the accused persons robbed Rs. 70,000/-, gold ornaments and a bag of cigarette packets from house of Shri Lekhraj Jha r/o 3/143, Sector-16, Rohini, on pistol point, while he was sleeping with his family. A case vide FIR No. 316/17 dated 31.07.2017 u/s 392/34 IPC is registered at PS K N Katju Marg, Rohini in this regard.  

5. In the intervening night of 6/7th August-2017, the accused persons robbed cash to the tune of Rs. 80,000/- and gold ornaments on pistol point after entering house of Shri Vijay Kumar r/o G-3/75, Sector-15, Rohini, while he was sleeping with his wife and kids. A case vide FIR No. 333/17 dated 07.07.2017 u/s 392/34 IPC is registered at PS KNK Marg in this regard.

6. In August-2017, the accused persons robbed cash and three mobile phones from a house in Arjun Park, Najafgarh on pistol point.

7. In the intervening night of 27/28 August-2017, the accused persons robbed Rs. 50,000/-, mobile phone and gold ornaments on pistol point from a house of Shri Joginder Singh r/o G-9/168, 3rd Floor, Sector-16, Rohini, while he was sleeping with his family in night. A case vide FIR No. 360/17 dated 28.08.2017 u/s 392/34 IPC is registered at PS KNK Marg in this regard.   

8. On 19.08.2017, the accused Amit Yadav @ Rajneesh with his associates stalked a girl with his associates on a motorcycle to her house in Raksha Enclave, Mohan Garden and threatened her father of kidnapping her. When the father and brother of the girl opposed the accused Amit Yadav, he opened fire in order to terrorise them. A case vide FIR No. 554/17 dated 19.08.2017 u/s 452/354/354(D)/509/323/506/336/34 IPC is registered at PS Ranhola in this regard.

9. The Hero Honda Splendor motorcycle No. DL5S CG 8251 left by the accused persons on the spot in Raksha Enclave, Mohan Garden, was found to be stolen vide e-FIR7657/16 dated 13.03.2016 e-Police Station Crime Branch.

10. One mobile phone recovered from the accused persons was found to be stolen vide e-FIR No. 1448361 PS Najafgarh, Delhi.

11. The Apache motorcycle No. DL8S BJ 4287 recovered from the accused persons at the time of apprehension was disclosed by the gang leader Amit Yadav @ Rajneesh to be stolen by them from Hastal Village. The respective FIR in this regard is being verified.         

Apart from the above, the accused persons have disclosed their involvement in 8-10 more incidents of house theft, which are being verified and connected with respective FIRs.    

PROFILE        

1. The accused Amit Yadav @ Rajneesh is the leader of the gang and originally belongs to a lower middle class family was residing at District Aligarh, UP. He has studied upto primary level and after that he started sitting at a grocery shop of his father. He came to Delhi in the year 2013 in search of livelihood and started working as a waiter with different tent houses in Dwarka and Uttam Nagar area. During this period, he came in contact with some criminal elements and was first time arrested in the year 2014, when total six cases of house burglary of Police Stations Uttam Nagar, Vikaspuri and Dabri were solved on his arrest. After coming out of jail in June, 2017. He formed a gang and continued his criminal activities and remained involved in a dozen cases of burglary and robbery etc. of different police stations in West, Rohini, Outer and South-West Districts.

2. Accused Vikas Puri basically belongs to a farmer family residing at District Chhapra, Bihar and has studied upto primary level in Delhi, when his family was based in Khayala area. After that, he started working as a parking boy in the locality. Thereafter, his family shifted to their native place in Bihar, while the accused remained in Delhi and was involved in crime. During this period, he also worked as a waiter with different tent houses in Dwarka and Uttam Nagar and came in contact with Amit Yadav @ Rajneesh and joined his gang and remained involved in about 13 criminal cases of burglary, snatching and robbery, etc. Recently, he had come out of jail on 30th July-2017.  

3. Accused Vikas residing with his family in Jai Vihar area of Najafgarh and studied upto middle school level. After that, he started working in a footwear factory in Nangli Sakravati, Najafgarh. In the year 2013, he came in contact with Amit Yadav @ Rajneesh and joined his gang and in the year-2014. He was first time arrested in a case of house burglary with Amit Yadav @ Rajneesh. He is previously involved in about 15 cases of burglary, theft, snatching, Excise Act and robbery etc. of police stations Uttam Nagar, Punjabi Bagh, Bindapur and Janakpuri etc. Recently, he had come out of jail in June-2017.  

4. Accused Sidharth Sharma @ Ankit is first timer in crime and belongs to a middle class family residing in Vikas Nagar area. His father is a property dealer by profession. He told that after completing his studies upto 12th standard, the accused joined Robotics in Nawada, Uttam Nagar and left the same after few months and started his own project to develop robot.

For this purpose, the accused was in need of huge money, so he met Amit Yadav @ Rajneesh through one Raj,a who was lodged in jail with Amit and joined his gang, who lured him to crime to earn easy and quick money to fulfill his ambitions.   

During this period, he was also practicing Taekwondo in the area and won several medals in junior and senior levels.

5. The accused Gaurav is also a first timer in crime and is residing with his family in Vikas Nagar area. His father is working as supervisor in Noida. After completing his studies upto 10th standard from a School in Vikas Nagar, the accused started practicing Taekwondo and during this period, he came in contact with the accused Sidharth Sharma and got befriended with him and started assisting him in his robotic project. Later, he also joined the gang of Amit Yadav @ Rajneesh with his friend Sidharth.
