• Gang of robbers/snatchers busted. Two gang members arrested from Najafgarh area.

INTRODUCTION, The Crime Branch has busted a gang of robbers/snatchers active in Najafgarh area and arrested two members of the gang.  Seven robbed/snatched mobile phones and one Yamaha motorcycle used in crime recovered. The names & addresses of the arrested accused persons are as under: -
  1. Praveen Khatkar (aged 30 years) s/o Sat Dev Arya, r/o H. No. RZ-314, D Block, Gali No. 7, Prem Nagar, Najafgarh, Delhi.
  2. Iqbal @ Pappu (aged 30 years) s/o Hasmat Ali r/o Shyam Vihar, Phase-1, Najafgarh, Delhi.
INFORMATION, TEAM & OPERATION, Ct. Rahul Kumar posted in Inter-Border Gangs Investigation Squad, Crime Branch, Dwarka received a secret information that the members of the gang indulging in robberies and snatching in the area of PSs Najafgarh and Chhawla would come at 28 Feet Road, Prem Nagar, Najafgarh in order to dispose of looted mobile phone on 16.09.2017. This information was further developed and a team of Crime Branch under the supervision of ACP Jasbir Singh led by Insp. Yashpal Singh comprising of ASIs Bhoop Singh, Randhawa, Govind Singh, HC Dharmender and Consts. Rahul Kumar, Ravinder Singh, Badri Prasad and Kuldeep was constituted to nab the criminals. The Crime Branch team laid a trap near the expected place of their arrival and both the accused persons were successfully apprehended. On their search, a total of 7 robbed/snatched mobile phones by them from different areas of Sai Baba Mandir, Dichao Road, Goayal Nala and other areas in Najafgarh were recovered from their possession. Also one Yamaha motorcycle used by them during the commission of crime was recovered at their instance. On this, the accused persons were arrested under appropriate sections of law.
INTERROGATION & PROFILE
1. The accused Praveen Khatkar belongs to a wealthy family residing in Prem Nagar, Najafgarh area. He is married and have wife and daughter in his family. From 10th standard he started playing cricket and got famous in the area, after playing in several local tournaments. He claims to have played in state level cricket team of Haryana and practiced in Ranji Camps. After completing his graduation from Delhi University he started modeling along with cricket. He also participated in various ramp shows in Mumbai. During this period, he fell in bad company and became drug addict due to which his career in both the fields got spoiled and he started committing snatching /robbery in the area in order to fulfill his requirement of drugs. He has disclosed of committing about 13 robberies/snatching.
2. The accused Iqbal @ Pappu belongs to a lower middle class family residing in Shyam Vihar, Najafgarh area and basically belongs to District Baraut, UP. He is illiterate and has wife and two kids in his family. He is running a vegetable shop in the area and is a drug addict. In order to fulfill his requirement of drugs, he started committing burglaries in Najafgarh area and has been previously involved in 4 criminal cases of burglary, arms act and preparation of dacoity of PSs Najafgarh and Chhawla. Accused Praveen came in contact with him about 4-5 months back and he allured him to commit crime.
Both the accused persons have confessed to have committed dozens of incidents of robbery and snatching of cash and mobile phones from passersby in Najafgarh area in last three months along with their associates Pappu, Nitin and Babu on Yamaha motorcycle of accused Praveen and Apache motorcycle of his friend. Concerned authorities have been informed regarding arrest of the accused persons. Efforts are being made to arrest remaining members of the gang.

Two sophisticated pistols alongwith 9 cartridges recovered. A reward of Rs 50,000/- was declared by Delhi Police for his arrest. A team of Special Cell, Northern Range, led by Insp. Sanjay Nagpal, Inspr. Prabhat Kumar & Insp.
