SENSATIONAL AND BLIND CASE OF EXTORTION CUM ATTEMPT TO MURDER WORKED OUT WITHIN 48 HOURS.

INTRODUCTION: -
Special Investigation Unit, Crime Branch has arrested one person namely Piyush Kataria age 19 years r/o Pharganj, Delhi, for involvement in a extortion cum attempt to murder case of PS Karol Bagh vide FIR No. 417/2018, date 30/09/2018, P.S. Karol Bagh, Delhi.
Incident:-
Sh. Rajeev Oberoi s/o S.R. Oberoi r/o West Patel Nagar, Delhi runs a Beer Bar in the name of Cheers Restro Bar at Paharganj, Delhi. On 30.09.2018, he reported that he had been receiving extortion calls from an unknown person since the past few days. On 29.9.18 someone fired two shots at him while he was driving his car. He got a call threatening him to pay Rs. 3 lakhs or next time he would be killed. Accordingly a case, vide FIR No. 417/2018, date 30/09/2018, u/s 336/506/34 IPC r/w 25/27 A Act P.S. Karol Bagh, Delhi was registered on his complaint.
Operation:-
After registration of the above said case efforts were made to apprehend the accused persons with the help of technical and local sources.  To work out the case a team under the supervision of Insp. Ashish Kumar comprising of SIVineet, ASIAjit Singh, Ajay Kumar, HCs Sudhir, Vipin, Praveen, Sahir,Rajeev Tyagi, Praveen, Nishant Cts. Praveen, Karnal and Gaurav Tyagi in the close supervision of Sh. Sandeep Lamba was constituted. During investigation it was found that the number used to make the extortion calls belonged to an Ice-cream hawker. The ice cream hawker stated that on the day of incident four boys had come to his Ice-Cream ‘rehdi’ and had purchased ice-cream. One of the boys used his mobile phone to make a call. The same modus operandi was used on three occasions with three different ice-cream vendors. During further efforts CCTV footage was analyzed and one Wagon-R Car was identified by the hawker. The boys were also indentified. Address of the owner of the car was found.
On 30.09.2018 Piyush Kataria r/o Pharganj, Delhi, age 19 years was apprehended near wine shop in Gole Market, Delhi. He admitted to his involvement in the incident. He disclosed that his other associates were Honey, Vivek and Ankit. They had together made the extortion calls and had also fired on the complainant of 29.9.18.

Recovery:  One Wagon-R car bearing No. DL2CAU1083 (used to commit the crime)
Profile
         Accused Piyush is educated up to the 12th standard. He ganged up with Honey, Vivek and Ankitto extort money from the complainant.

The car has been seized. Efforts were also made to arrest remaining accused persons. Concerned police station has been informed about his arrest. Further investigation in the case is on.

Two sophisticated pistols alongwith 9 cartridges recovered. A reward of Rs 50,000/- was declared by Delhi Police for his arrest. A team of Special Cell, Northern Range, led by Insp.
